Question about sworn statements or affidavits from friends/family

Hello,

I have my interview scheduled in three weeks and, since my case hasn't been going very smoothly, I figured I can never bring too much evidence and want to get letters from family/friends.

I am a bit confused about what they need to write though, so I was wondering if anyone has a template they used or something like that?

Also, what exactly is the difference between sworn statements and affidavits?

Thank you in advance! :)

I just had my friends write I hearby swear that to the best of my knowledge that the marriage between X and Y is real. Then They listed events or things they've seen us it, been part of. and lastly, I had them include any pictures of us with them, or pictures they've taken of us.

Sign, dated and added their address for a contact

good luck!

Here is a thread with some examples. I think you need to get it properly notarized. Be careful to follow exact protocol or it won't do much good...I don't want to do too much research right now to make sure these follow exact protocol, but if you want, I can send you an exact example of mine that worked through email.

I realize that you are in a different stage, but I assume that the protocol would be the same. Just pm me. I've heard that its best to get affidavits from people that could theoretically seek to immigrate someday through the foreign spouse, so it might be best not to use immediate family members of the foreign citizen. I used my best (American citizen) friend, my mom and the foreign pastor that married us in the religious ceremony-he already had a regular visa to the US.

Thank you for the help! :)

That example looks very good indeed. About notarizing, the person who's writing the letter needs to go get it notarized, right?

Also, I wasn't planning on getting letters from people who are not US Citizens or permanent residents, also cause I thought USCIS wouldn't consider them at all. If they still accept them though I could have some of my friends write letters for me too (not related to me in any way).
