Good morning everyone.

Is there a particular time of day that NVC assigns your case number to your file? I read in another topic here on VJ that most approvals are sent out from the service centers at night (we got our approval email at 9:30pm PST).

We got our NOA2 via email on May 26th and so far, no NVC case number, is that normal do you think? I've looked at other ppl's timelines and it seems like ALOT go from the NOA2 stage to the NVC case number stage within a week.

Thanks! Appreciate everyone's help.

This is what helped me in my process: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut (VJ Wiki Guides)

Scroll down to #4 and it shows a phone number, you could try to call. Start getting all the excess paperwork together so once things are received and approved you just mail out those packages one after the other! That guide really helps to speed up the process.

Good luck!

Thanks for answering...actually, I have all my paperwork ready lol. Everything's gathered into a nice neat pile, just waiting on that magical "your NVC case number is xxxxxxx"

I was hoping (perhaps unrealistically) that when I called the AVR yesterday my case number would be ready because as I said earlier, it *seems* that alot of people's timelines I've looked at get their NVC case number assigned within a week after getting their NOA2.

Oh wee - what can you do but wait? LOL

I was also delayed receiving some word from NVC after receiving the NOA2. However, when I called I entered the case number into the automated system and was able to confirm when NVC received the I-130 package from USCIS and when it was entered into NVC system. As well as the new case number assigned by NVC.

With NVC there is a lot of follow up required if you don't hear from them in the time frames that they give. Example: if they say allow 10 business days for a certain action and you have not heard (received) anything in that time frame. Time to start calling.

Additionally, if you call and speak with one of the operators you can also give them your email address and you can start receiving some updates and some forms via email. It can help save some time. But, keep track of the time lines they give you. If it passes.... follow-up.... follow-up....follow-up!!!!!! Also keep in mind. When you speak to an agent and you don't get all the answers you need.... don't hesitate to ask to speak with a supervisor.

Call NVC (603) 334-0700. Try to get an update. You can use the automated system first and / or speak with an operator. Just follow the prompts. Have your USCIS case number handy when you call.

Best of Luck!!!!

Hey all... got my NOA2 approval on May 20th .. then the NVC letter indicating that they received the packet dated the 28th. I've been calling the number to see if we are in the system..and whether I use the INS Receipt number or the NVC case number, it says we are not in the system.

Is this something I should be worried about?

I know the form letter always says the packet will be forwarded to the consulate in 1 week - wondering if I should call during the day to speak to an operator?

Thanks!

I say 2 weeks from NOA-2 'notice date'. It takes some time for NVC to receive it, and prep all for that first phone call.

Hang in there !

The NOA-1 and NOA-2 have a receipt # / case # - starts with CSC - use THAT one. It won't show up on the nVC AVR until NVC has prepped the casefile and is ready to start processing on yer casefile.

Thanks Darnell! We are going the CR-1 route and yesterday I updated the NVC with both my hubby's and my email addy. Also, I emailed NVC to remove our attorney as the one on record, but haven't heard anything about that as of yet. But we BOTH got emails today from the NVC in regards to the AoS fee and my visa fee so that's exciting!
