In all fairness dude, if someone entered my house, car or boat, they better be prepared to face a range of weapons of my own.

I find it ridiculous that anyone says, but they attacked the IDF first. Which tends to happen when you board another person's boat. Otherwise, what did they want them to do? Greet them with food and open arms.

If they were acting in accordance with international law, which the Israelis may legitimately be able to claim, in searching for weapons, then violent resistance of the sort encountered is no defence. Besides, the other five ships did the smart thing and offered no resistance.

The Arabic culture is quite hospitable so perhaps they were waiting for that.

Under International Law, boarding a ship in a search for illegal weapons in international waters is entirely within the law.

Exactly what don't you understand about this?

The bad thing about all this. There a millions of young Muslims watching those videos who probably could care less about the whole mess before this incident. You can bet they are gonna see that video over and over and over wherever they are.

According to Al Jazeera, the "activists" instigated the violence. According to a number of reports, the "activists" opened fire first. Your POV is steadily losing traction, as what really happened slowly escapes suppression and filters out into the public domain.

And Israel will argue that they were searching for weapons on the ships, which, should they be successful in their backing-up their assertion, would mean they were acting in accordance with international law.

The truth is clear. Israel does not and will not follow any international law, they kill anyone,including their own people and Americans to achieve their (gods chosen people) goal.

So then you would endorse the Chinese military check US ships do you? That is, if they deem it necessary. Heck, even the US didn't check Russian ships during the Cuban missile crisis.

Israel is going to push the wrong person and one-day someone bigger is going to push back. Unfortunately the US will then be dragged into a large scale war to defend Israel. If you love the country so much, why not offer to make it a state, problem solved.

Yep... It still amazes me that everything the jewish people have been through, they treat other human beings like this. It really blows my mind. You would think they would be the most peaceful people on the planet, yet they are basically US sponsored thugs.

It's almost like some weird cult financed by the US. If Israel says the sun rises in the west, the US agrees, even though we all know it rises in the east.

SECTION V : NEUTRAL MERCHANT VESSELS AND CIVIL AIRCRAFT

Neutral merchant vessels

67. Merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral States may not be attacked unless they:

(a.) are believed on reasonable grounds to be carrying contraband or breaching a blockade, and after prior warning they intentionally and clearly refuse to stop, or intentionally and clearly resist visit, search or capture;

(b.) engage in belligerent acts on behalf of the enemy;

(c.) act as auxiliaries to the enemy s armed forces;

(d) are incorporated into or assist the enemy s intelligence system;

(e.) sail under convoy of enemy warships or military aircraft; or

(f.) otherwise make an effective contribution to the enemy s military action, e.g., by carrying military materials, and it is not feasible for the attacking forces to first place passengers and crew in a place of safety. Unless circumstances do not permit, they are to be given a warning, so that they can re-route, off-load, or take other precautions.

Basic rules

118. In exercising their legal rights in an international armed conflict at sea, belligerent warships and military aircraft have a right to visit and search merchant vessels outside neutral waters where there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that they are subject to capture.

119. As an alternative to visit and search, a neutral merchant vessel may, with its consent, be diverted from its declared destination.

To prevent intentional misrepresentation, the weapons being searched for were not the clubs and knives the "activists" were armed with, but possible weapons being carried as part of the cargo.

I don't understand the obsession from the US actually. One would think that being an ally usually means the ally does something in return, equally assists you out.

Israel has already proven they are capable to fight back, so stick to it rather than trying to beat everyone up. Instead they recently crapped on everyone else, using the forged passport saga. Though they were smart [or cunning] enough to not use those from the country that funds them - the US.

Evidently since they know that the US will back Israel no matter what, it enables them to act like this. Israel needs to learn quick-smart that they are not in the position to have the world hate them. Now that the holocaust is wearing out, the rest of the world is starting to ask, who the #### do you guys think you are.

Do yourself a favour and go read the link I just posted.

The U.S didn't board the Cuban-bound ships because they diverted voluntarily and so took away the justification.

And China and the USA are not in a state of conflict and there is no official blockade to break, so again, there is no justification.

The law is complex and, despite the outcome of their actions, Israel is likely able to argue that its actions in boarding the ships are legitimate under International Law.

Where were the weapons. I'm not sure if sticks are considered "weapons" By that logic Israel should be able to board any ship anywhere at any time.

I'll say this though, at some point they are gonna really cross the line, and don't come crying to daddy in the US when they do. There is a limit. I hope they realize this.

Evidently since they know that the US will back Israel no matter what, it enables them to act like this.

Thing is, Israel can no longer be confident of American backing. President Obama is pushing as hard as he can to get something moving in the Middle East, and the only people he can push right now are the Israelis. They are soon going to find out where American support stops.

It's hard to have pro-Israeli spin all day everyday when it takes a week for uncensored footage to appear in the media backing Israeli claims they were basically ambushed on the Mavi Marmara, when every international politician is railing against Israel because they can't afford to lose access to Arab oil and when the Israelis themselves are so muted on the whole episode, as is their usual reaction, good or bad.

Remember, not everyone who argues against the "activists" and Palestinian POV is pro-Israeli. Some people look past the partisan positions and try looking at the affair dispassionately. When you do, things are a lot less clear-cut than the media would have you believe.

That "uncensored" footage was supplied by the IDFDesk, hardly an unbiased source, if you note the active campaign by them on the internet to acquire all domain names related to the conflict, and put up their own websites, telling the "true" side of the story.

There is other footage that tells a different story.
