Why do feminists so belittle their fellow women that believe differently than them? I thought you were "pro-choice" maybe I have mis-defined that also? Please enlighten me how it is not my wife's choice to serve her husband (not all the men on VJ, she will leave that to Elm and others trhat send their nude photos around on their iphone)

What is wrong with a woman pleasing her husband? What is wrong with her making a sammich with real mayonnaise? Or mashed potatoes with real potatoes? When did these things become bad and why? She is my wife, not my secretary. Not my room mate. Why isn't she permitted the same choices you are? Why does she have to make the same choices you do? Why am I not permitted to make a choice without ridicule?

I do not ridicule gays or lesbians and respect their choices, I respect your choices for YOU and for your husbands, I guess if that is what they like...hey why do I care? But why can't we get the same consideration? why do I have to "like" feminists or feminism? Why do I have to marry a feminist?

And do you still think feminism is not responsible for violence?

Feminism is not about wanting to be a man, or even 'like' a man. What it is about is providing women with the means to be able to live life without being assigned a gender role, not being judged simply by looks or the ability to produce children and allowing them the freedom to enter the sphere of employment and be paid on a fair and equitable basis - oh and originally all they wanted was to be allowed to vote -

Why would it matter to you that I have no use for a woman that is a feminist? Won't marry one, wouldn't date one and avoid any contact with them whatsoever. That should make you happy, right? You don't have to marry me or date me, aren't you happy? I can marry a woman that is feminine and not a feminist. I am happy. I am not restricted to marrying only US women and you are not restricted to marrying only US men...we are all equal. That is the goal, right? Increased freedom?

Threatened? Hardly. It's more a matter of being mystified by the ignorance of someone who can have such a weak grasp of human rights and equality. You know, two of the cornerstones that this nation was founded upon. You have the freedom and right to associate and enter into marriage with whomever you chose. That doesn't mollify your ignorance one bit.

They don't at all. Perhaps you missed my first post. I simply went to a country where feminism is more or less non-existant and married a woman from there. Not a problem for me at all. I am not the least bit upset. But it seems that it MUST be a problem for me or all the feminists get angry.

Now we are ALL happy, right?

First of all, I salute -- and I really do mean that -- your wife's choices. I'm a feminist, unabashedly, and for me that means a woman's choice to direct her life as she sees fit. I think what your wife is doing is great for her, and I would never, ever tell her not to do that so long as that makes her happy.

Second, I only use real mayonnaise and real potatoes in my cooking. I may be a ballbreaker, but I'm also surprisingly skilled in the domestic arts (viz my knitting thread and participation in the recipe thread). I love pleasing my man too.

Third, you probably already married a feminist, even if you didn't realise it at the time. Your wife sounds like a woman who has real determination, brains and grit. You're lucky, as you often say. If you buy into my definition of feminism, your wife is probably a feminist.

Fourth, no, I don't think feminism is responsible for violence.
