A new report says there has been a 15 per cent increase in the number of violent incidents at schools involving girls. (YouTube)

A female lobby group says feminism cops the blame for everything, after the women's rights movement was blamed for a rise in violence among girls.

The New South Wales Bureau of Crime Statistics says there has been a 15 per cent increase in the number of violent incidents on schools grounds involving girls in the past five years.

Those figures prompted Charles Darwin University psychology lecturer, Dr Peter Forster, to say that the rise of feminism could be responsible for girls' aggressive behaviour.

"We've now taken away the expectation that women will behave differently to men," he said.

"It used to be that one of the biggest differences was that women were more peaceful, they were peacemakers. [but] that kind of inhibition to be violent has gradually diminished to the point where it no longer inhibits women at all."

But NSW Women's Electoral Lobby coordinator Kathleen Swinbourne says that is ludicrous.

"Some people try and blame feminism for anything. Feminism is not responsible for all the ills in the world," she said.

"It's not responsible for women being violent. In all my research on feminism I don't remember hearing, seeing or reading anything that says women are entitled to be as violent as men are."

She says people still try and use the rights movement as a way of keeping women in their place.

"I don't know that [feminism] is used as an excuse for the behaviour by the people doing the behaviour so much as it is by the people trying to explain it," she said.

"I think that's about denigrating feminism rather than explaining the behaviour.

"I don't know that these girls are going out and going 'Well, I'm a feminist, I'm allowed to beat people up as well'.

"Other people are using feminism in order to denigrate feminism and put women back in their place."

Ms Swinbourne says there are still many misconceptions about feminism.

"I hear it constantly out talking to people. It used to be the stereotype of the hairy legs, overalls etc and now there seems ... maybe that feminism is an 'anything goes' type concept," she said.

Ms Swinbourne says the feminist position is opposed to violence regardless of the perpetrator's gender.

The NSW report looked at the trends for NSW police dealing with cases of assault on school premises for 10 to 17 year olds.

The report says incidents involving boys remained stable at about 290 last year, while there were 154 cases of assault involving girls.

These girls are the "results" of the mothers who are too preocupied with the political correctness of toilets around the world than with their daughter's moral and behavioral education

Indirectly, yeah it is to "blame". If feminism = search for equality, girls seeing themselves equal to boys then they are trying to stake their claim for a high social status in the same way. Prove yourself, be admired and give us a show while you're at it.

It's pretty meaningless isn't it? All it does is make the issue of controlling violence within schools more pressing. When the hormones are raging, fights will ensue but school violence shouldn't be so bad that kids die (Damilola Taylor) or that we need police presence.

It's just noone reported the incidences and noone bothered to track them. Sudden increase in anything is almost always due to better reporting and better tracking. If these incidents keep going up 15% every year, we'll talk. Until them, continue to watch girls beat the ####### out of each other. It can be entertaining, sometimes, when it's comical. But remember kids, violence is bad and it solves nothing except when it's your government bombing 3rd world countries. Then it's the "just" solution.

What are you talking about? I never saw such violence when I went through K7-12 [high-school], nor did anyone of my 25+ cousins or siblings.

Yes it seems beyond a lot of people to be able to accept others for just who they are. At 26 I am extremely tired of being treated like there's something wrong with me for liking video games, anime, or whatever else that's just not girly enough. People from other schools were disgusted with me when I used to play soccer with my local team and I lost count of how many times people called me a lesbian, not that it would have mattered if I was.

Still here I am in a long lasting relationship, and I hope, a long lasting marriage and a family. I'm not any less a woman just because I don't paint my nails and wear high healed shoes.

School aggression is just ugly altogether, regardless of gender. I mean, you don't have a problem with women studying martial arts do you?
