K1 interviews / AOS interviews: curious to see how many couples that both attended the k1 had an AOS interview as well.

I'm just curious if there's any correlation between attending the K1 interview, and not needing an AOS interview. I'm also curious how many attended the K1 interview

I was not there for the K-1 interview but I WAS there for the month preceeding it.

I was there for October 2009 and her interview was 24 November 2009.

We thought it was better for me to be there for the pre-interview preparation

of the paperwork etc. than for the interview itself.

We don't have an interview date for AOS yet but are hopeful as it is rapidly

approaching 2 months since the NOA1 for the AOS, EAD and AP applications.

No correlation... The correlation is how busy the local USCIS field office is to handle interviews... If it is a very busy office handling other types of interviews, then better chance of a case file transferred to CSC....

Also, the poll questions MAY not completely apply to everyone. I was not at the first K-1 interview, but I was ordered to attend the Stokes interview (which was disguised as something else).

Otherwise, I agree with Payxibka regarding the (lack of) correlation.

I also agree regarding the lack of correlation, because the interviewer staffing

availability and country-specific interview issues would not be duplicated at the

AOS stage. Depending on any given case, it may be harder, easier or just the

same (coincidence).

I wouldn't mind to see the results of the poll anyway.

I doubt any correlation; USCIS rules specify that for marriage-based AOS (I'm not sure about marriage-based Consular-issue visa), the USC spouse has to be present for AOS interview.

There has been some speculation amongst the UKers that the AOS interview correlates to the time between the K-1 interview and the AOS decision. For example, people who have the interview, POE, marry, apply and are being adjudicated just 3-4 months after the K-1 don't seem to get interviews, but for people like Nik and I where the K-1 was in June and we didn't even apply for AOS for 6 months, we had an AOS interview after 9 months had passed since the K-1 interview. Of course, we also had that I693 hiccup...

Oh, I doubt there is a correlation -- and I really doubt we'll get out of interviewing, given that our local office is pretty un-busy compared to down here in Tucson. But it is nice to hope that we can avoid the 2 hour/way trip

Balto is not exactly un-busy--and I have heard from some who've had to do AOS there who live in Montgomery and PG Counties (which have higher immigrant populations than rest-of-MD, including Balto city and surrounding Baltimore County--each of which have quite substantial numbers); the interview was NOT waived, and they had to go to Hopkins Plaza. Getting from Montgomery County to downtown Balto is just-plain-nasty (easily 80 minutes under "ideal" circumstances), from PG somewhat easier.

We applied for AOS less than a month after getting married and had an interview about 2 1/2 months later. My husband had his interview in September and came in November. We were married about a month after that, so all in all pretty quick process once the K-1 interview was approved. From our conversations with other VJ members, it seems most if not all CA filers receive an interview. Probably because we have so many people living here who do not have legal status. In any case, we are just happy to be done and approved.

I attended our K1 interview at the Embassy about 2 weeks ago and it turned out that I was asked more questions than my Fiancee. They asked me about 70% of the questions...

I was curious about this and thinking of posting a poll about it. I am deciding now if I should try to fly down there for the interview or not. It is a pricey way spend a few minutes but if it is a benefit to do so, well, I'll do what needs to be done.

My husband couldn't get the time off to come for my K1 interview because he already got all the time off to see me 2 months earlier.

So it was only my mom and me.

We had an AOS interview, which wasn't really an interview. It was even fun because he looked through our photos and we started talking about Disneyland haha

Then all of sudden he said we were approved, we were sooo happy and went out to celebrate
