I am in no way knowledgeable about the K-1 visa, but from what I've read from other people, it's the first time I see someone receiving an invitation letter. I think usually, they are more worried about you proving that you have ties in your country. But as I've said I am in no way knowledgeable about the K-1 visa.

No, I'm not asking about the K-1 visa:) I'm asking about the tourist B-2 visa. I will apply for a tourist visa now...

So my question is do I need some kind of documents from my USA host(fiancee or her family)?

Eddyy..

Ipak, sto imas vise dokumentata to bolje. Sto se tice K1 procesa, ja sam to prosla, znam o tome dosta stvari i mogu ti pomoci u vezi s tim, ako nista drugo.

Pozz :)

YOU are applying for a B-2.

Not your fiancee's family.

At the most, they (your presumably future FIL) can provide a letter of invitation (why you are being invited, how long will you stay, will you be staying with them, how are they related to you--family friend or whatever, they will cover your food and board). If he so wishes he can attach an I-134, which is evidence of financial support.

At the end of the day, the visa will be granted on YOUR ability to prove your ties to your home country in order to convince the CO that you will return home.

Your FIL's stuff could be helpful as supporting evidence but it's not going to swing the decision either way. YOUR documents will. His credibility isn't being judged--yours is.

Do you have a stable, permanent job? Money in the bank? Own a house? Car? Immediate family?

03/27/2009: Engaged in Ithaca, New York.
08/17/2009: Wedding in Calcutta, India.
09/29/2009: I-130 NOA1
01/25/2010: I-130 NOA2
03/23/2010: Case completed.
05/12/2010: CR-1 interview at Mumbai, India.
05/20/2010: US Entry, Chicago.
03/01/2012: ROC NOA1.
03/26/2012: Biometrics completed.
12/07/2012: 10 year card production ordered.

09/25/2013: N-400 NOA1

10/16/2013: Biometrics completed

Ok guys so my interview is on Monday and I gathered all the documents I can think of. This includes:

- Invitation letter

- Last 6 pay slips

- Bank statement confirming I have enough funds for my 3 week stay

- Lease from my flat

- Contract from work

- Holiday approval from my manager

- Round trip plane ticket

- DS 160 form filled and printed out

I think I'm all set and if you guys have any idea about a document that it would be useful to have, please let me know.

On the forms I filled that I'm gonna visit my fiancee so that can be a minus for me but I decided not to lie about that one.

Cheers,

Eddy
