ah - a call in letter is excellent, IMO -

I'm guessing 'they' are allowing her to refile for new visa application ? all forms, new fees, new medical maybe, yada yada.

that call in letter can be used to 'drop off paperwork' or 'drop off passport' or 'come in for new interview', depending.

Have a safe trip !!!

Both the specific wording on the letter and what the consulate officer told her (or at least what Julie understood them to say) indicate that she only needs to to bring her new medical test results in along with a new visa fee and the new visa will be issued. They specifically said she doesn't need any other paperwork unless she waits until after november, in which case she would need a police report and whatever the other thing we had to get certified. It's possible that when she does return with her medical report that instead of immediately issuing the visa they would assign her a new interview date, but she said they said it would take about a week after they got the medical report to re-issue the visa. I guess we won't know for sure until then...

ah - that's different then.

They are 'extending her approved visa', IMO -

also, IMO, they want that new medical exam because of TB issues (or the medical is over a year old).

This is good - really - is less paperwork

and

'they' said they'd issue a visa after a week.

This is good, IMO. All Good !!!!

Hang In There !!!

One thing , a recent change, visa fees increased to 350 USD, up from 131 USD, on June 4.

Last Caveat - when it's re-issued, ask yer lass to scan in the visa page, email it to you on same day she receives it, then you review the expiration date, same day.

This thread has been somewhat of a comedy of terms misused or misunderstood, or even misinterpreted. If the Consulate actually used the term "reissued" and meant it, then that's what they are doing, not "extending". The end result is an extended period of time for the beneficiary to travel but it is by "reissuing" the visa, (an actual new visa in the passport) that this will be accomplished.

I can't imagine there would be a new interview.

ya, the more I think about this, the more confused I become.

It's a new visa fee, but it smells like they are using her original visa application forms (no new visa forms to be submitted), all new medical, maybe new police clearance, but what's the end result?

IMO, is new visa stamp, with new dates in it.

As to a new interview, hard to say, really, as a new fee is being collected (which usually connotes a new interview).

as to a comedy of errors - well, maybe, we could get busy with the script - I'd have to get Gary n Alla involved for the punchlines, though. (seriously)

Which is called a "reissue". The fee is for issuing a new visa. I would be extremely surprised if there's any actual interview.

Hey Norman, any news ?

I was waiting until we got the final results. The TB tests came back last week, and everything was negative as expected. I thought the clinic would send the results directly to the consulate, which is what I seem to recall happened originally. But instead, Julie had to go to the clinic and hand deliver the results to the consulate on tuesday.

On Tuesday she delivered the results and answered a few more questions about the original visa expiration. They didn't ask about the original case, just the circumstances around why we missed the expiration date. They told her to return back thursday for the decision. I thought that was really strange that they didn't take her passport or give her a decision then. Perhaps it needed to be escalated for approval by a supervisor? I don't really know.

In any event, Julie returned thursday and waited patiently through all the other scheduled interviews. She said she saw a lot of pink slips while waiting. It's the day/time for people to submit more evidence and she said only two people weren't given pink slips during the time. When she finally got to the window at the very end, they took her passport and told her she is approved. I'm not making plans until the visa is in hand, but it appears everything is good now.
