I wonder how long this 20-year old has been playing violent video games as a way of life.....

This type of this is disturbing really.

Watch out who you kill in-game

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/7771505/Video-game-fanatic-hunts-down-and-stabs-rival-player-who-killed-character-online.html

Julien Barreaux, 20, told police he wanted to see his rival player "wiped out" after his character in the game Counter-Strike died in a virtual knife fight.

A court in Cambrai, northern France, heard how Barreaux plotted revenge for seven months after the online "killing" last November.

He then located the victim, named only as Mikhael, several miles from his home.

When the man answered the door, he plunged a kitchen knife into his chest, missing his heart by less than an inch, a police officer told the court.

He added: "Barreaux was arrested within the hour and told us he had wanted to see his rival wiped out for killing off his character."

Barreaux was jailed for two years for causing grievous bodily harm, and ordered to undergo psychiatric tests and anger management therapy.

Judge Alexiane Potel told him: "You are a menace to society. I am frankly terrified of the disproportionate reaction you could have if someone looked at you the wrong way in the street."

While true, when parents start letting their 13-year olds play games intended for adults (especially in the realistic graphics we have today with realistic weaponry), you're bound to get some who have been completely tainted by spending hours upon hours each week playing these games and being disconnected from humanity.

This is just twisted.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Rather disturbing though I would say this guy has issues that would have surfaced whether he played video games or not.

Meh I played violent video games by 13. In fact my parents weren't very happy with me about it.

It is really embarrassing to get knifed in CS I have to admit. My claim to fame was killing two opponents with a single sniper shot, switching to a pistol and killing a third, and then charging a fourth person with a knife and killing them, all in a matter of 5 seconds.

I haven't played CS much since college but it does mess with your head a little if you play too much. You start to see the world through the game, like when walking along you tend to watch for good viewpoints etc. I would never say these games make a person violent, but they do start to reprogram the way you think.

I don't blame him, the guy beat him at the game.

I’m surprised the French can start or finish anything! Just the other day I was looking at some WWII guns one was for a French rifle of that era. “ WWII French rifle, drop once never fired“. Way over priced!

So Bonta isn't in a good strategical position then?

I never played CS but can't say I got the same feeling with UT, mind you it's a lot less tactical anyways. Can't believe we haven't played the most recent yet but this pc can't handle it and I just don't think it'd be the same on 360 or PS3 *sigh*

Good games don't make us violent, they give us vitamin D deficiency...

Well I played GTA4 and the most enjoyable parts was not doing the missions, but going on a serial murder rampage around the city.

Surprisingly, I don't have any desire to act it out in real life.

Bottom line: some people can separate fantasy from reality and some people can't. The ones that can't are dangerous.

Well it would not be questionable at all if parents would just look at the labels on the box. A member of MILs family tried to buy the last GTA for a 12 year old, who already lives in an unstable environment. Kids don't really need to be influenced by that kind of culture, it's just not the same as the whole Mortal Kombat fiasco way back when.
