Hi Every one,

2 months ago, I filed for my Fiancee's AOS, I haven't received her work permit or I-130 for travel documents and we haven't gone for Interview, yet, just she did her Biometric.

Moved from K-1 forum to AOS from Family based visas forum as not a K-1 issue.

Congratulations! Yes, it doesn't happen often but it does sometimes happen that the AOS is approved very quickly and before the EAD is approved - you are one of the lucky ones! Most K-1 applicants for AOS seem to be approved without an interview these days, but 2 months is definitely fast. Time to celebrate:).

Yes. Alla had her green approved in just about two months, but we did have an interview. She got her green card before her EAD or AP. Our oldest son, K-2 to follow, got his green card approved in 6 weeks with no interview.

Congratulations!! It's definitely possible as you can see!

I believe the standing record on a K1 - LPR is 37 days (no interview).

You MAY receive notifications about your AP and EAD as well (I know a couple of people that got them AFTER the GC) so just shread them or cut them up or put them somewhere safe if you wanna hold onto them for interests sake. They aren't needed once you have the GC :D

This happens frequently in K1 cases. The hint is transfer to CSC instead of a local office.

My AOS was approved in 37 days, and I got my green card in the mail nine days after the approval. It does happen. Congratulations!

Hello everyone,

I have a query. My wife and I filed all the documents for AOS, EAD, and AP in early-May, and NOAs received on 18 May 2010.

Two weeks later, we received the appointment notice for biometrics on June 14 2010. As we want to get it done asap, we did an early walk-in and completed the biometrics on 28 May 2010.

After that, we didn't hear anything about the EAD nor the AP. But a NOA for the initial interview of AOS was received on 14 June, for an appointment scheduled on 21 July 2010 (next wed).

This seems to be quicker than the normal processing time for the GC, but is it normal that the GC interview happens before the EAD and AP production even for no K1 Visa couples?

For your info., my wife entered into the US as a traveler from Canada (no K1 Visa), and we got married in US in mid-April.

What's your experience on this?

I mean, should I be worried about it?

Tom

I have my interview next week too, there were no updates on my application until last week, when they said my EAD and AP was approved, still waiting on receiving them. Try not too worry, you're probably going to get the GC before the other documents. Oh and we filed in May too, 4th of May, anyways, try not to worry.

All the best for you interview next week and be sure to have as much proof of marriage as you can get. Good Luck! :)

BethandBilly,

Congratulations!!!

You were right about the EAD, I just received an email from USCIS about the order for EAD production. Thanks.

So how was your interview? How long was it? What kind of information should I bring with me for the interview 2 days later?

Congrats again.

Tom,

So happy you guys got the EAD, mine is in production but I still don't have it over two weeks laters, but hey after my interview yesterday I am no worrying about it.

So the interview went well, it appears I was approved even before my Husband and I went in to the interview, the chap was very nice, made us feel comfortable straight away, swore us in and said he needed my passport, took my green I-94W (yes VWP) and stamped my passport with the temp green card thing and that was that, he just clarified the terrorism and deportations questions (you will have already said no on the paperwork, so don't worry). The interview was all over in less than 10 minutes, my husband and the Interviewer sat and talked about secret clearances etc for the next 15 minutes.

Here are a few tips though, make sure you go in smartly dressed, no blue jeans, my husband wore a suit and I work a rather conservative gray wool dress, we spoke clearly, no yeah and nahs, it has to be yes and no, be clear in your diction and until it is all approved do not be overly friendly, let them initiate that.

We took so much proof of marriage, but he said unless we wanted to give him proof of marriage they already had enough, one thing though, take as much as you can, because you never know if they will ask you for it or not. Oh and we took our son with us, so plenty of proof of a valid marriage there.

If you have any more questions let me know, I'll be happy to help.

Wishing you the Best of Luck for tomorrow, please let me know how it goes for you, be confident :)

Hello Beth and Billy,

Our interview this morning went through smoothly. The officer was very nice and the whole interview was only about 15 minutes. We showed her our photos throughout our 3-year relationship and she specifically asked for one with us and my mother on it, then kept it. Don't really know why, but glad we found a couple in the 3 albums we brought with us.

At the end of the interview, the officer wrote 'Good' on our paper and said she would proceed with the green card production. We're so glad and happy.

Thank you for your advice and suggestions throughout this process.

Rgds,

Tom
