Oh nothing, but the US Gummint rounded up Japanese Americans and put them into POW camps using good 'ol harmless census data back in the day.

It really isn't irrelevant. It shows the demographics of an area and how it is changing. It provides information that can be used to plan for future needs.

If they wanted to push it, they could. It's the law.

Let me guess what you are thinking. The Census allows each community to get "their fare share."

Well, I filled out the Census in 2000, and all my community got was higher taxes and more illegal aliens. You can keep my "fare share" this time around.

What I find amusing about this paranoia over names etc is that it could easily be found by other means without even asking the person that lives at a particular address. You are given the opportunity to freely provide information that can be obtained elsewhere and without your knowledge.

It looks like the law refers to just multi tenet buildings where the common areas may be secured. It appears that a fine would occur if the census worker is denied access to the common areas, and but not individual units.

Such paranoia about the census....Amazing really. This is a process that allocates federal funding proportionately, to states and localities. Do they use the information for other purposes? Perhaps.

But who cares anyway, if you need to be found, that will happen by other means. Rest assured of that.
