Driving in Vermont on UK license

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows if I'm allowed to drive in Vermont on my UK license, I've had a look around and I'm still unsure so I was wondering if anyone had any information that could help.

Most states allow you to drive for upto 1 year on your UK license, but once you become a resident you generally have to get a state license within a certain time period. Vermont is 60 days, I think.

Some VJers have suggested waiting until you get your EAD before applying for the license. DMV employees don't seem to have much idea about rules for immigrants, so waiting until you have a SSN, Bank account & EAD will prove to them that you are a legal resident and that you meet the requirements for a license. Each state is different though, so maybe Google Vermont DMV & see what you can find through a bit more research. Hope that helps a little!

Yeah its 60 days, and it appears you will need an EAD document to prove you have US status for more than 180 days.
