That's the issue we should be concerned about, getting the spill plugged, not worrying about who's is or isn't responsible for it having happened in the first place - at least at this point in time. However, people want to assign blame, so they will, regardless of any evidence one way or another. I expect the reality will come down to a series of errors and coincidences with things being not done that should have been done, but no one person or agency to blame. I hope they have some good ways to clean this mess up once they get it capped.

Hell, if I were on the coast I'd get something to try and figure out how to separate the oil from the water and start filling barrels to make some $$$!!

You would have to be quick, since all the valuable stuff (octanes) is volatile and quickly evaporates. The asphalts and heavier stuff settles out to the bottom, so in the end, all you get to collect is a bunch of tar balls.
