Hello everyone,

I have a questions:

1. On DS 230 question #32 List below all employment for the last 10 years. From 2005 to present, I don’t have a permanent job anymore. I am a storekeeper supervisor before, but from 2005 to present, the only job that I have is a part time job. Sometimes I am Driver, Electrician and sometimes a plumber. All of these are daily basis salary and if there is an on-call job then that is only a time for me to work. What am I suppose to write on question #32? Is It UNEMPLOYED? Because I don’t have a permanent job right now? Or I will write FREELANCE because I'm not working in a company? What am I suppose to write aside from FREELANCE? I don’t want to become a "public charge" or might be denied during the interview.

2. In my application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration DS 230 question #12. Present Occupation. Do I need to write “Unemployed” I’m presently unemployed, or “Employed”? Am I might be denied during visa interview if I don’t have a job?

3. During the interview at U.S. Embassy, Are they still needed to see my Income Tax Return? I'm not paying my tax because according to our Internal Revenue when I asked them, I am a tax exempted and no need to file, because I don't have a permanent job since 2005 to present.

Please help and thank you

1. On question #32 i would put unemployed, just because its nothing official and they may want more info about it and it wont be worth getting and RFE over.

2. #12 Also write unemployed, i do not see why you will get denied your visa for not having a job. There are many people with no jobs due to ressession and all that right now. I think you would have more problems if you write employed as its not like you have a contract.

3. If you are not the petitioner you do not need a copy of your tax returns or anything its the petitioner who submits that with the I-864. For the interview i would have a copy of all the documents you have sent to the USCIS and NVC like the I-130, I-864 & DS-230

Hello....I know why you feel concerned. I too helped my Moroccan husband fill out his application DS-230 and I didn't want the Embassy to think my husband is lazy or worthless and looking for an easy escape from his country on a visa. He too until this past 6 months had previously had just odd and end jobs that lasted like 2-3 months at a time, but I didn't want to not list any jobs, so what I did was I put the two months last summer he did acting in a Lenanese movie and provided the links for proof, I put where he had opened a store on the beach for about 3 months selling drinks, sweets and ice-cream.......(I put he was self-employed during that time).......I also put where he had worked in summer renting out apartments/homes to tourists.......Of course he had jobs he had trained for like 3 months at a time where there was NO PAY, just promise of getting the job, and I chose not to bother writing these down. If I was an Interviewer in a country like Morocco where so much fraud is coming out of the country scamming women for visas, and they are already so harsh on giving visa's I too would wonder why a healthy man is NOT working..just my opinion for what it is worth. I think not having anything listed may subject you to harsher interview?? Maybe a few others will put their opinions here too and agree or not agree. When he attended college and took like a 3-4 year break and went back to obtain his degree I listed that time frame as well on a separate sheet of paper so they will not wonder if I just failed to list or complete the work history for the 10 years requested. My Ds-230 is just now entered into the AVR so Im not sure how our's will turn out.

Thank you for answering my questions. I’m afraid we might be denied in the interview, if my father has no job at present. On October 1988 my father was petitioned by my grandfather and it was approved on March 1994 but my grand father was at the hospital during that time and was very sick. On April 17, 1994 my grandfather was died. One week before April 17, we received a packet from the U.S. Embassy Manila and a letter stating that the petition was already approved and giving us an instruction to get ready for all the requirements needed. After a week, we received a letter from the U.S. Embassy that the petition for my father was revoked, because the petitioner was already died. On October 1994, my grandmother petitioned my father. On March 2010, we received a form DS 3032 from NVC. My father chooses my grandmother to be his agent. On April 20, we received a DS 230 from my grandmother (agent). Now we are processing our documents to be submitted back to NVC. This is the reason why I ask this kind of question and we are terribly got nervous and afraid if we might be denied during the interview because this is our last card (opportunity). My grandmother is now 80 years old.

Thank you for the replies and for those who are still willing to share their advices, I am very grateful to accept it.

God Bless Us All.

Hi,

What a terribly long wait you guys have had.

Anyway, I'm a bit confused. Your Grandmother is petitioning your Father but you (the son or daughter) are filling out the DS-230? I'm unclear what you are asking really.

Who is the immigrant and who is the sponsor?

:)

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. My grandmother is the sponsor and my father and I, are the immigrant. We, both applying DS 230. I’m 20 years old, female and a student; I will accompany my father in the U.S. My father put my name on Ds 230 question # 31a Person(s) named in 14 and 29 who will accompany you to the United States now. Follow up question. On DS 230 question # 32 in what occupation do you intend to work in the United State? What will I put? At present I’m a student but I want to work when I get there in the U.S.

I hope I made it clear for you and please help.

Thank you and God Bless

Hi to all !!!

i found this question and i have a doubt about it and i don't know if can i ask here or to open a new thread for the tiny concern? lol

in my case, i am retired, but i go to work whenever i want, i mean, if someday i want to go to work, i have my space there, sometime they ASK me(i am not obliged) to help with a special case, or with a new doctor.... but only if i want, i mean i have no obligation, something like "honorific assistance" (i don't if that's the right term)

so what i have to write? in #12, Present Occupation?
