Hey guys!

I know these maybe a stupid questions, but I just have to ask them.

On the I-134 at the beginning of the page I have to put my name and where I'm residing. Well, technically I'm residing in Brazil at the moment (since January, 2005), but I used my sponsor's address (where we'll be staying in the U.S.) in the first forms sent to the USCIS.

I think it would be right to use my address here in Brazil, because I'm living here presently.

Also, question #2 asked how long have I resided in the U.S.? So should I put since my birth date until I moved here to Brazil?

Sorry and Thanks,

andy

andy,

A sponsor needs to be resident in the USA. But, if you're not going to be the sponsor - you indicate that you've gotten someone else for that? - then where you live isn't important. You may not even need to submit and sponsorship info if someone else is the sponsor.

I'd be curious to know if you'll be asked to explain why you wrote in your petition that you're living in the USA but now you claim to be living in Brazil.

According to my lawyer, you should put your last address in the US. I had the same issue as you. I was living in Chile when we applied for the K-1. I put my parents' address in the US. I believe that you do need to fill out the I-134 for yourself, even if you don't make enough money (I certainly didn't!). My parents were the co-sponsors, but the lawyer told me to fill out the I-134 as well.

I also wanted to mention that you can put your last address in the US even if you don't wind up living there when you return from abroad. I returned to my old address for about 2 weeks after coming back to the US, and then moved to a different state. I've applied for the adjustment of status from here (new address).

My husband is also from Brazil and went through the Rio consulate. He didn't have any problems. I hope it all goes well for you too. Good luck!
