Can you only travel from the country where visa is issued?

I apologize in advanced if this has been asked before.

My fiance is an Argentine resident, but is a citizen of Paraguay. He's currently going through the K1 process in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This will be the country that will issue his visa on his Paraguayan passport.

I'm planning on going to visit him for Christmas in Paraguay (where my family is and where his family is). We want to fly back to the US together from there (wishful thinking!).

My question is this: Can he travel to the US from Paraguay or can he only travel from Argentina? He was told by a very unreliaveable source that his K1 visa and his passport is only good if he flies from Argentina.

Help? Pleaseeee!!

I think that whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about. I mean people have layovers all the time in other countries and I don't think that in most cases immigration bothers to look at your whole flight agenda. They just know where the flight is coming in from. Maybe they got confused with from what country the visa has to be issued by but I might be wrong but even in some cases people get visas from a country of their residence not citizenship. This is just my opinion I could very well be wrong but I hope that it helps you a little bit! If I were you I would still schedule your flight as planned.

I cannot speak for K1, but I think it should be the same with K3. I got my K3 from Vancouver Consulate, went home to Indonesia to resign from my job, etc etc, then flew to US. No problem at all. I would say you can enter the US from wherever you want regardles which country issues your visa as along as it is genuine and valid.

It won't matter which country your fiance flies in from My fiance' had his visa issued from Italy, but flew from Tirana, Albania to Vienna, Austria to NYC and it didn't matter one bit.

I should get my visafrom London next week butwill be enetering the USA from the Dominican Republic where I have to finish off some work before going to the USA. I don't think this will be a problem

Exactly, that's what I thought! Plus technically he IS coming from Buenos Aires. He's just staying in Paraguay for a few days to see his family and say goodbye. The problem is that nothing gets stamped when he crosses the Paraguayan - Argentine border.
