Question - When your case is complete what updates first the AVR or do you you get a SIF? AVR states that they received my documents on 5/28. I'm hoping for a SIF this Saturday (fingers crossed). I hope I am still in the running for a July interview.

How is the UK with interviews? Are they backed up?

SIF happens first.

At least mine did and I haven't heard anyone say the opposite yet.

Well no, not exactly. That's a little misleading.

If you look near the beginning of April, you'll see that's when I sent everything in.

We got an RFE, which I responded to on the 27th and they received on the 29th of April. The AVR didn't update that it received the RFE response until May 21st. So almost a month later.

However, the initial time I sent everything in, it took them 9 business days to respond. So I would expect around 8-10 business days from the day the package arrives (not when they say they received it).

Edit:

Just noticed you got the same RFE I got. I'm guessing they wanted proof there was no 2 year home stay requirement? It's fricken ridiculous that they RFE people for that. Especially when they are the National VISA Center and they have access to the information.

On an average, your SIF should fail around 10 business days AFTER your last package has been delivered to NVC's mailroom. Irrespective of what the goddamned AVR says.

I KNOW. My husband has had 3 prior visas. All three visa's he has had are stamped in his passport that indicate that the 2 year rule does not apply. Which is even more annoying is that I recieved an RFE in April we submitted that waited about 4 weeks only to get this silly RFE. I am going on almost 3 months of being in the NVC. And we are going to miss the interview dates for July :( I am very annoyed.

I have called NVC today at 6:30PM to ask what is going on with my last package (DS230) that was received by them on 05/24/2010... I was told by nice operator that package may be in the building but not in the system yet, so the package is not received by NVC.

Q - I have mentioned that it was signed by NVC on 5/24/2010. So what happened?

A - Please give us more time.

It look like they have slowed down a lot. :bonk:

Yep but see the problem lies in the fact that there was a big ol holiay on Monday so they did not work and delays cases  But hopefully by Friday

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I can smell an SIF for this week. I called NVC earlier today and the operator says she can tell that my docs were received May 24 but that batch of mail has not been reviewed. I agree with other VJers. The NVC has slowed down. I am going to try to maintain a positive attitude about the rest of this process.

We got our approval tonight! Woo.

Do you guys think calling the NVC on monday would be too early?

you can start calling the NVC number and use your number from the USCIS to get some information. I am not sure if the AVR will update when it arrives at the NVC or not....

either way you have to call after a few days to give them your emails! if you wait too long they start the paper mailing process!
