Hello,

I (USC) am trying to decide if I should attend the interview with my wife to get her CR-1 Visa..

Wanted to get some polling data and results of the USC regarding attending the Interview:

1) Did the USC attend the interview? Y/N

2) Result of the interview? Pass/Fail

3) Location of interview?

Think it would be interesting to crunch these numbers and see if it really matters if the USC attends..

Thanks to all for your participation!!

I AM going with my husband in Jordan.

We attempted a K1 that was returned to USCIS by the embassy in September. So I went to Jordan and we married Oct 6 and started the CR1.

I think we would have gotten the K1 if I had been with him.

No way I would miss this!

For me it is impossible to go to the interview however I am going to write a letter to the CO as to why i couldnt attend and stating some basic info about our relationship based on the questions i have seen that they asked other interviewers. I hope this will be enough

I (USC) am going to be flying back to Hong Kong for my husband's interview in Hong Kong. I know already that they won't let me inside the interview room (the embassy said they just want to interview him), but I can wait in the waiting room. The interview is on June 7th. I will let you know what happened....

I did not attend but I sent a letter stating the reason I could not be with my wife and of how our relationship evolved and my wife said this helped greatly! Only had a few questions and done, she also had our best photo on top of the documents so the CO could see that first without asking.

I'd say it depends on the consulate (whether it is a high-fraud country or not) and the # of "red flags" in your case.

In our case, my husband didn't attend the interview and we got approved without any evidence being asked for. My interview lasted for 4 minutes, tops. We didn't want to waste nearly $1400 in airfare for my husband to stand outside in the May heat since Mumbai doesn't allow USC petitioners to attend the interview. Frankly, we didn't think his presence was neccessary. We had a strong, bona-fide case and I was fully prepared.

Of course, it's always nice to be able to provide some moral support, if you can make it there.

Whether or not to attend the interview is totally consulate specific.... For example, China, Equador, DR, and MANY other hi-fraud or difficult countries it is pretty much a MUST that the USC attends.

We processed in Italy and I did not go, but for most Western European countries it is not necessary...

The best advice is from a previous post that you need to check in your regional forum and in the consulate review for your embassy to see what is the acceptable norm for your consulate... Best of luck

Read the reviews for your Consulate, that may give you a better idea as to whether or not your presence will be required.

Bogota was described to me by the Consular Officer as a, "High Fraud Post." Had I not attended, we certainly would have been denied. Our AOS meeting was 60 minutes in length, and brutal. We were approved, but it did not come easy.
