I am confused because the Pinned topics mention SSN numners & visas, we dont have either yet!

My husband is in the UK and I'm in America. He wants to take a few months to visit me here for the summer.

I sent in my AoS (Affadavit of Support) this month; we're also scared we may be called for an embassy interview!

Can he visit me even though we're in the middle of immigrating?

What step is the embassy interview? IF we were to get the date while hes here, could it be rescheduled?

I know my timeline sucks, but my husbands P.O.E was on January 7th, 2013!

Greencard in hand! After almost 4 years, WE DID IT!

Hi~

Ok, let me see if I can get this straight, you are in the middle of getting your husband here to the US, and you want to know if he can visit you?

As long he shows reasons to be going back to the UK after the visit, ie...job, home, responsibilities there.

If you just sent in the AOS for him, have you done the IV packet yet for the CR1? Have you gotten a case complete by the NVC?

The SS# will come after your husband gets his CR1 visa, that is if that is what you are going for.

I'm not sure which visa you are going for.

Thank you so much for answering!

Yes you got it straight. I am not sure if i completed the IV packet yet...I have not gotten a case complete yet.

In fact, I've not received anything in the mail/email saying my AoS was accepted.

Well, I'm rather uneducated about the CR-1 process, but I can tell you a few things about visiting.

Yes, he can visit. As has already been stated, since he is married to a US citizen, he may be under some more scrutiny when he enters, so he should come prepared if he doesn't want to be turned around and sent on the next plane home (at his expense!). Although that sounds quite extreme, it doesn't happen very often at all, so take it seriously, but don't loose too much sleep, OK? This link has a list of things which may be useful. www.visajourney.com/content/k1visit I know it says it's for K-1's, but the list of proofs to bring applies to anyone. You don't need everything on the list, but gather what you can. Also, when Nik visited, we found it was helpful to tell them that we were in the middle of an immigration process. Since you guys are going along well enough there, and almost complete! There's an argument that it makes more sense for you to continue with the CR-1 instead of trying to flout the law now and adjust in country.

Now, about London and interviews. I believe there is a lot to be done in the UK before the interview (documents gathering, medical appointment etc), but they usually give you a couple of week's notice before that, and it can be a month or more between receiving the case to even assigning an interview, so I believe you have enough time for even a medium length visit to the US, provided that someone is checking his mail....Also, London is pretty good about rescheduling interviews to later dates if you find you need to. Check out the London Embassy Info page on this site for information about contacting the embassy (if you need to) here: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=United%20Kingdom&cty=London

It's EXPENSIVE to call the embassy, so only do it if you need to - they aren't always helpful. If you have a good reason (need to reschedule interview as opposed to status update), they will give you an email code and you use that to email them.

THANKS! Brilliant

Okay, so he can come. Thats good.

How fast will they be replying to my AoS? As I said, I've not gotten any information that it was approved or denied >_< I guess I'll call the NVC and check my case status ^___^ This has made me ridiculously happy :luv:
