Understand? Sure I can 'understand' it, but it's wrong. The mosque does not represent the terrorists and if it does to a particular individual, then it's not wrong to try to educate and explain why such a point of view is misguided. If we had taken the view that all the German people were nazis and treated them as if they were, Germans would still today be ostracized and vilified. It's not an acceptable point of view, and less so when that point of view influences decisions that affect members of a targeted group who have nothing to do with the events beyond a superficial sharing of a religious affiliation or nationality.

This isn't about some "hate" for Muslims. All I said was it's insensitive to the victims and the many who associate the crimes that day with "Muslim Terrorists." Those who believed they were doing the right thing for their religion, the same as many do in the name of "Allah." - The extreme groups they are associated with who feel that anyone who doesn't conform and become Muslim should be erased from the Planet.

Okay. I'll admit I didn't carefully read the article. I didn't have my glasses on and I was running back and forth checking my child, what was on the stove and my email. I skimmed the article and I read the title of the post.

While I didn't exactly object to a Muslim center being built at Ground Zero if other religious centers were being included as well, I can see no argument against building a mosque off Ground Zero, no matter how near.

I can imagine some people being hurt by this, but I don't see how it could reach any level of protest.

Well given its a few blocks away? No. Look at it from the muslim side. Their world changed forever in the eyes of many westerners after that day. Can you imagine living in NY as a muslim in the months after 9/11? It must have been rough.
