Hey everyone...

My husband is a wonderful Dane, and he just got finished his interview at the US embassy in Copenhagen...it was the moment we'd been waiting for so long for. He said it was mostly paperwork, waiting and then the interview itself went so quick, that he barely had time to ask anything....at the end nobody said whether or not he was approved! They had him sign something, a statement that swears that the contents are true to his knowledge, and that was it.

They took his passport (which we assume is a sign that he is approved?) and told him that they will notify him when he can come get his passport and "packet"...they also said it could take up to three weeks. We are wondering what is going on, because it seems like with other cases people get their Visa right away after the interview. At least all of the Denmark cases seem to be issued the next day. I am also wondering why they did not even state whether or not he was approved? We thought we'd be celebrating today, but now we are just sort of confused. Can anyone offer any help?

Thanks a million!

He is most likely approved. If he was denied, you would've been told the reason & given a handout of what to do next. So I think you should celeberate. My wife & I had similar experience at Frankfurt Consulate a month ago. At the end, to be sure, I asked the officer "Should we celebrate?"..and she nodded with a smile! So you should go and enjoy!

Thanks for helping me get some peace of mind. He was really bewildered, it seems, that the interview was nothing at all what he expected. That combined with such a long waiting period (it seems like everywhere i look they have a 7 day turnaround, and everybody picks them up the next day!) really made me so nervous. Feels like we've been waiting forever, and on a day that we thought would bring closure, we only found out that we have to wait even longer than normal.

My husband (also a wonderful Dane) said that they took his passport as well (though he went for K1 interview in Copenhagen in 2008). He said they made him sign papers and then told him that they would send his passport back to him with the visa in it. Bottom line is, if they took your hubby's passport, most likely he was approved. I wouldn't think that they would have any other reason for taking his passport. If you're still not sure, you/he could probably call the embassy and ask if he was approved. Explain that nobody said anything, and you just want to know for sure! My husband said he asked them about 10 times before he left the building if he was really approved. I can see him doing that, though, because he can be annoying like that lol. (L)

Congrats!! :thumbs::thumbs:

I was about to respond to say the same thing - that he was most likely approved if they kept his passport. But you just confirmed that yourself :thumbs:

I had a similar experience a couple years ago(with a tourist visa though)at the US Embassy in Athens. They briefly interviewed me, then took my passport and told me to go back to pick it up the next day in the afternoon. They never said yes or no flat out, but I figured it was a yes since they kept my passport. There were a couple of people whose tourist visas had been rejected and they didn't keep their passports.

The next day I turned up to find out that they had issued me a tourist visa valid for 10 years :yes::yes: which I was thrilled about, as there were other people collecting their passports at the same time and saying that they were only given 6 months or 1-year tourist visas :no::no:

Glad to hear everything worked out. I know how it feels to worry about all of this. And I know that words can't explain how happy you probably feel now that he is coming home. Yup...we are in Philly. :)

Yeah for Danes and Americans. My gorgeous WIFE, living in Denmark will hopefully be getting her interview very soon. I have a question for you danes/americans...

Lina (the Dane) visited me for about 2 1/2 months while her I-130 was pending and it even went to the NVCc while she was still here. She went back to DK but will be coming back June 16th. Do any of you know if you have had any trouble? Even though we didn't have any trouble before we are kinda worried that now that she is so close to having her VISA she might not be let in or something. Which would be really REALLY bad because we are having like a huge "celebration" with all our families and stiff in California (even though we married in DK in January)...

Please let me know if you have had any experience with this. Tthanks!

Eric
