and that's exactly what makes you a problem in this society. Just 'ignore' that of which you do not understand or actually try and debate an issue reasonably. Just point out that you don't like it and ignore them. Yup, that's the real mature way to go about things.

this isn't society, it's vj. putting someone on ignore is encouraged to keep from having flamefests.

if one can't talk about an issue without name calling all the time to opinion they disagree with or without reubuttle, then maybe they shouldn't be debating issues to begin with.

There is no ban. You are using this health warning to advance a red herring.

There is no ban in the US. However, there are some countries where bringing in lithium batteries is banned. I've brought them in anyway and no one ever asked or tried to discover if I had them, but the ban existed.

What is the problem with an advisory to put tape on battery compartments????

I would suspect it's because it should be assumed that it's common sense that people should know this and keep dangerous things it away from their kids.

I don't agree with that opinion, BTW - but that's the "libertarian" argument. Or at least one of them...

because it's pathetic if people need so many 'advisories' in their lives to get by.

Coffee is hot - duh.

If it's small you can choke - duh.

If it's on fire, you can burn/catch on fire - duh.

it's a cleaning chemical, so shouldn't be ingested - duh.

if by 'coffee is hot', you are referring to the woman who sued mcdonald's....there was a lot more to that case than what they put in the media, and McD's was actually quite negligent in what they did.

Ok, so 'babies can choke on batteries' is not really an off the wall stretch, and really should go without saying, but it has NOTHING to do with the gov't putting a 'ban' on anything, silly man.

What about:

thalidomide can cause birth defects - is that a "duh" too?

What about:

living near power lines increases the risk of certain cancers?

Am I allowed to laugh and call you stupid if you fall afoul of previously unknown side effects of prescription medication?

Nowhere is there anything about Congress banning anything.

Nowhere in the article did it say batteries are going to come with a warning label about a choking hazard.

While I believe we live in a ridiculously litigious society, and some of the simplest things come with pages of common sense disclosures, I don't think some net article from a Dr stating the specific hazards of batteries is really much cause for any excitement.

Well most people probably wouldn't be aware that there are dangers inherent in swallowing batteries besides choking. Who knew that swallowing a battery can cause internal burns?

And seriously... who on earth is going to suggest that batteries be banned? Batteries have driven the last 50 years of technological progress!

there are common sense things and then not so commonly known things.
