Hi all. I´m filling out my fiance´s DS-156 online and it asks about place of issuance and issuing country for his passport. He holds a Moroccan passport that he had replaced in Almeria Spain. The issuing country would be Morocco and the place of issuance would be Almeria right? This may sound really redundant or obvious, but you can never be too careful with these things!

I think if you look on the passport itself on the biographic data page it states the information.

ask for help from your fiancé, because in his passport is the answer, otherwise we are guessing

Your answers should be what I would expect. But since you cannot read the script you will need to check with your Fiance(e). It is strange that it is not written in the language of Morocco and in English. I think most countries include the information in their native character set and in English.

I think what's happening is the OP is not inspecting the passport carefully enough. English is the language of air travel. Passports show place of issue in native language/alphabet AND English. No matter where issued, a Moroccan passport is issued BY Morocco.

The passport is in Arabic and French, the other language of Morocco, but not English. There are four separate numbers. One is a C.I.N. whatever that means. Then theres a bunch of stuff in French. My fiance does not speak French, I cannot pronounce it,and I cannot read Arabic. We also speak Spanish, which is our second language, not English, to each other. It´s confusing enough in English to me, lol, but in Spanish it´s even more so. So if anyone has a SO with a Moroccan passport, maybe they could help me out. I may even repost this in MENA. What is your unanswered question exactly?

I think when everything you see as "French" would be names. Since France uses the Roman alphabet, names of French people, places and cities do not and/or need not "translate" to English.
