I feel respect and understanding is key. Religious differences can be overcome if both people follow that and are strong enough to face the opposition from the outside. What is most important is that both of you never ask or expect the other to compromise thier believes or values then you can be ok...

I do agree with part of this but also compromise and respect for each other's believe is also important.. not to give up one's believe though..

When we were in Thailand trying to know each other better I asked Bram to read abit about Thai Buddhism and culture. I would like him to understand me and how i think and if we would come accross difference in believes then he would understand how and why I would think like that. Ofcourse I also understand how he was raised and his culture so i understand how and why he would think like that too. And because he read a bit about buddhism, he said it's very similar to what he is believing now (which he doesnt believe in specific religion) so to know about each other belives is really works for us.

I do agree with part of this but also compromise and respect for each other's believe is also important.. not to give up one's believe though..

And because he read a bit about buddhism, he said it's very similar to what he is believing now (which he doesnt believe in specific religion) so to know about each other belives is really works for us.

Out of respect you should get to understand your loved ones believes. Yes read about it. You dont necessarily have to accept it as your own, but you need to support and understand her/his belief. This helps to avoid misunderstandings, accidental disrespect, and can actually bring you closer as you can open up and talk to one another and teach one another. Sharing is important in a relationship and sharing religious beliefs can be wonderful. It is very important that you have an open mind with one another and realize something very important......This is part of who they are, this is part of what guided them through their life, this helped mold the values/morals/ and ultimately helped them become the one you fell in love with. Its important to remember that and not try to change them.
