Ouch....is it me or is it getting HOT in here.

See what you started? :P I'm sorry. But if anything, you can see how two opposing sets of values clash. I believe in the Golden Rule and Lisa believes she IS the Golden Rule.

i'm betting on lisa winning that one :P

The way I figure it, all the fire and brimstone people on VJ are monotheists, why should they have all the fun? I'd like to see some animist/Pagan/native American fire and brimstone people too. That would kick a$$.

How did this thread turn into flaming..... a simple question was asked... my husband grew up Catholic, goes to church once in awhile and goes through the ritual, but mostly is agnostic/ me I'm pagan...

Cause everyone is still worked up about the "other" thread...

Joel and I don't claim anything. Growing up baptist and being abused by a man who used the bible as his excuse for his behaviour left a bad taste in my mouth for "religion".

Eh, we love being outdoors, hiking, that sort of thing. There's ways of worshipping without being in a building. I prefer to worship (if that's the right word) the way my ancestors, the Cherokee, did...by respecting the Earth. Hmm....does that make me pagan? :)

It makes you Cherokee. Pagan is from Europe. There are many types of worship that involve nature, that evolved in many different parts of the world. Develop your Cherokee brand of paganism and then come back to VJ talking about how those Euro-style Pagans are going to hell (or be reincarnated as rocks, whatever).

depends on your definition of pagan. many people think of hindus as pagan. not because they are not christian/jewish/muslim, but because of the polytheistic aspect.

Right, gotcha. I was referring to how steeped in pre-Christian European imagery and folklore most modern 'pagans' in north america actually are.

ah yes, like a lot of people who think it's really cool to follow the old celtic ways (while ignoring that the celts were brutal savages who conquered people)

For some odd reason, when you said that I pictured the bruts from the capital one commercial..

Im Catholic, but not currently practicing, and he's a laid back muslim (hits myself while saying that) we havent encountered problems, we both enjoy hearing about one anothers religion and the similairities and differences....when we have children, they will follow him...which i have no complaints about

Sujeet and I share the same values/beliefs. We are both protestant Christians. Our beliefs are very important in both of our daily lives, so we wanted to be with someone who felt the same way. Culturally we have had to adjust to each other at times, but spiritually we are on a very similar wave length.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

England is not a very religious country...at least not from what I have seen thus far. So in regards to Ian...he is not religous at all. I am catholic. I don't preach my faith to anyone nor will I ever. So on that stance we are good. Although we did go to St.Pauls Cathedral in London and there was a service open to the public and they gave out communion. Ian did join me in that...and I didn't even ask him!!

LJ

David and I - like mostly every part of our relationship - gel very well as far as religion is concerned. We share the same views on many things...and the things I love is that on the things we dont' agree with...we can sit and talk and share each other's POV in a very interesting and educational way.

I know it sounds trite...but it's true

Here's a bit from our wedding song:

She will listen to me

When I want to speak

About the world we live in

And life in general

Though my views may be wrong

They may even be perverted

Shell hear me out

And wont easily be converted

To my way of thinking

In fact shell often disagree

But at the end of it all

She will understand me

Aaaahhhhh....

OMG...you guys can't use THAT song! That's mine and Jinky's! :P (Somebody - Depeche Mode)

That song was my best friends song when she got married hehe....SO YOU ARE BOTH BEAT!!! lol

Love is not an EMOTION or FEELING....

That if made from the heart...will outlast ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!!!!

Eh, well...religion wasn't something we ever discussed until the day we got engaged, actually. Sitting by a wedding chapel in Vegas and discussing future nupitals of our own, it came to light that we're actually both Catholic, with the requisite helping of Catholic Guilt to go with (enough to get us to marry in the Church, at least). We see pretty much eye to eye on the big things; some semantic points are out for discussion, but by and large we hold a similar faith.

Posted

actually, it was very important to anthony and i that we marry someone of the same faith. we have differences, sure. he was raised irish-catholic...and converted to protestantism a few years ago. me, i'm the charasmatic, fundamentalist type. but we've found a church where we are both very comfortable, and where we look forward to raising our children.

that is the thing that matters the most.
