NVC Received & Sent to Embassy in 3 days

Just some info for all, and maybe a question from me-

We received our NOA-2 on May 18 indicating our petition was approved and sent to the NVC. They also added an A# for my fiance, the beneficiary. The notice says valid from 05/18/2010 to 09/18/2010.

I spoke to the NVC this morning (early) and they told me they had received our petition on May 21 and on May 24 they sent it to the embassy in Bogota. They gave me the BGT case number and told me the embassy will contact us.

Is this normal or are we lucky or was I told something possibly not accurate that our case was processed by the NVC in 3 days and sent to the embassy in Bogota? Is this possible?

I never received the paper notice for our NOA2. I called NVC and they told me that they had our file only for 2 days.It may not happen all the time but I would not worry about it.

IMO, this turn-around at NVC is normal, for I-129F petitions (leading to a K-1 visa).

Now that you have the BGT #, start calling DOS HOTLINE (# in my profile), get a Human, and inquire for case status, about once a week.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Our case moved from the NVC to the Embassy in Bogota quickly as well. After you get the NOA2 notice things move pretty quickly (see my time-line). Now that the Embassy has your package you should download packet 3 from the US Embassy Bogota site at http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/consular/2010/kinstructionsfeb2010.pdf

It could take a while for you to get the notice in the mail so I'd advise you to start gathering your documents and then e-mail the DS-2100 and DS-230 once you have all the items you need. You can find the other documents you need on the site at http://bogota.usembassy.gov/appt-package.html

I wish you well.

Thats weird, I havent received my NOA2 yet either and Ive checked my status on the USCIS site and it says that a letter of approval (NOA2) was sent out on May 20th, and it still isnt here yet. I thought the NOA2 was needed as proof or something that needed to be kept

yes it is, a copy of the approval notice must be submitted with your I-485 Adjustment of Status application, if you lose it costs a lot $$$ to get a copy
