What is your mom's actual status? TN?, else?

What is your actual status, if you know? I assume it is derivative status of your mom... TD maybe?

TD status does NOT allow you to work... you will need to get your status to be changed to one that does allow work...however I do not know what those options are for you

I know that I want to work

You do not qualify for L-1 nor H-1b... Unless somehow you could get a TN for your self, but that might be impossible too...

I know your Mom has given you this advise so I will repeat it, since you are of canadian citizen, why don't you go back to Canada and take advantage of ALL of the free and good benefits that are available to canadian citizens. Free health care, Free higher education, plently of jobs, and a much better life style than livivng here in the US. Once you have obtained the necessary equipment to be able to migrate to the US, the come on back. You can visit the US any time to see your mother and friends, you will only be a giant leaping step away.

We don't have free post secondary, it's free until you graduate high school, then you watch the money melt away when you pay about $5,000 a semester...

I hope that immigration lawyer is able to give you some sort of advice that'll help and keep you with your mom. Good luck. <3

Life'sJourney - I WISH we had free higher education, I wouldn't be to heavily in debt with student loans!

The OP will also have to reestablish her residency in Canada to receive all those free benefits (which, by the way, we pay for with higher taxes). Generally she will have to be living in Canada for 6 months.

Helpplease1 - did you go to the immigration lawyer? What did they say?
