Is it too early to contact my congress

Hello fellow VJ members. I must confess that VJ is the best thing that has happened to those who are in process of passing through immigration process in the US since slice bread and butter. My only regret though is that I did not realize this till some few days ago despite the fact that my friends have been telling me about it since january, 2010.

This is my situation and question:

I sent my I-129F application in January 27th, 2010 and received my NOA1 02/07/2010.

Since then, there has not be any action on my file. I registered online and have been checking the status on a daily basis.

Just yesterday, I read in VJ that you can contact your congressman and without wasting time, I downloaded the release form and sent it to my congress rep. I got an email today from USPS that the letter has been delivered.

My question is:

1. Is it too early to take this line of action?

2. Will this enquiry be part of the package when they send it to the embassy?

3. If answer to Qu2 is yes. How will this be looked at at the embassy? Will it help or hurt my fincee interview?

I am just thinking out loud and would appreciate if any experience member can through a light into this.

Hello NSH, I don't have the answer to all your questions but I would say that yes, it is a bit too early to take any action. I would suggest looking at timelines on here and seeing the time it took for others who filed around the same time as you. I am sure you'll see that others are still waiting for their NOA2 as well.

And also, it is still within 5 months which is the timeframe that the service center gives for processing. I doubt that a congressman would do anything about it when its within the timeframe.

yea u should've waited 6 months atleast. for ur timeline, it was too early to contact ur congress person. o well, just wait and see what reply u get from them. all they can say is either we can't help u or we'll help u.

Yes it is too early. Its not bad but they wont do anything until your case is moving along.

I was concerned that since my case hasn't be touched since the initial review/check cash, something might be wrong. Atleast by now I should have seen one or two more touches. Also checkong all february filers, only very few have not been approved. Those still waiting have been touched several times. My thinking was if I set up a Congressional Inquiry, the file might be sorted out and placed in queue again if it is falling out of it based on what I read in this interview:

I'm going to move your thread to the K1 progress forum - which is dedicated to tracking the progress of I 129f petitions. You should get more responses there and see if you truly are lagging behind, or if you're on a normal 'pace'.

I definitely would not panic just yet. You seem to be right within the normal timeline for the VSC still. I got my NA01 on Jan. 22nd, and just got the NA02 last week. We had 0 touches until we were approved. Don't worry. Sometimes no touches is a good thing...sometimes a touch just leads to an RFE. I would give it another few weeks before you panic. Good Luck!

Ours had one touch because of an error on the NOA1, other than that we had no touches until it was approved.

Best bet is to take a week to catch up on "Family Guy" or "Lost" episodes, have a beer or two and stay away from Both VJ AND the USCIS websites. When you get back all will be resolved.
