I'm not claiming that they are cutting edge design, but at least on Verizon, they get the best reception of any phone available. Two things they excel at are call quality and signal retention. Other brands have better user interface, menus etc.

It's been a while since I used Verizon, so I'll have to assume that you have more recent experience with their network. I've been on a CDMA network for about the last 6 years and I've only had good luck with Nokia & LG.

I've had bad luck with Motorola, but nothing quite compares to Kyocera phones. I'm pretty sure they were designed by Satan himself as torture devices.

And the iDEN Motorolas used by Nextel were probably the toughest phones made. I'm not sure what's going on with Nextel since Sprint took over.

Ah Nextel. Good times. Good memories. Good sheep.

Who's your carrier? Sprint?

Who's your carrier? Sprint?

U.S. Cellular - the only carrier in my area (south-central Wisconsin) that has a decent, reliable signal with any phone, and believe me, I've tried them all. AT&T has reserved a permanent place on my shitlist as a result of my attempts to find a carrier that worked reliably for me in my area. Verizon didn't have good service here either, but they were reasonable about it and let me out of my contract w/out a fight. AT&T on the other hand decided that I owed an early termination fee for canceling a service that was totally unusable in my area. It was a lengthy fight, but I finally won that one. #### you AT&T!

Bottom line is you have to use what works best for you.

Actually, AT&T was an awesome service, once upon a time. After they were sold to Cingular, it went to hell pretty fast and hasn't come back yet.

Apple/ATT are pulling back for this: http://now.sprint.co...le_P_Sprint_HTC

I've always been intrigued by HTC phones. They look nice & seem to have a lot of features. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences w/ them? I've thought about buying one, but I'm too cheap to pay for a data plan.

I work for Sprint, so I cannot say more than the link implies.

I had Cellular One a long time ago, they were bought out by Cingular and the service sucked, lots of dropped calls and busy circuits. I switched to Verizon 8 years ago, but I'm getting tired of the nickel and diming they have become masters at.

If one only wanted a phone, it makes absolutely no sense to buy an iPhone.

The iPhone is a small computer. I check on it the weather of my city and others as well, the stock market, buy stuff on eBay, browse the Web, trade stocks via e-Trade's and TradeKing's direct applications, tag songs I hear while on the road, buy and download them, and use my iPhone's GSM divice for navigation. The phone, the camera, and the texting can be done with many other phones for much less money.

Oh, and I never had a connection problem.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
