864 and 864A Expire?

We just got a letter approved for visa 3 weeks ago after over three months pending of submitting the 864A. they told us to bring original passports for the visa process. We came to the embassy, they asked us come back in 1 week to pick the visas. when we came to get the visa, the embassy told us our police certificates and medical exames have expired, and they took the approved letter back, gave us the green paper ask for new police certificates and medical exams. we will get our police certificates medical exams done in 2 weeks. However, we are worry about our 864 and 864A. What if we bring our police certificates and medical exams, then wait, when we come back later, they will tell us they NEED *New* 864 and 864a. Then the process will repeat again, submitt wait, expire, submitt wait;(

Our question is 864 and 864a expire? we submitted 864 almost 6 months ago, and 864a 4 months ago.

I think once the affidavit of support is approved its valid for 5 years but I'm not sure if that 5 years covers your situation or if it only means that the sponsor needs to support the applicant for 5 years.
