Did you have to send in your Passport office clearance with DS230 form? I thought Passport office in India doesn't give you the clearance until you have the checklist. Am i missing something or am i given the wrong information.

No we did not have to send it in... Although they did have to send our case to a supervisor to review and close it.

Ahmedabad Passport office is very particular about this. My wife was able to take a "false" checklist letter to the PO and they gave her the PCC. So the key requirement is a checklist letter from NVC, regardless of whether it mentions the PCC or not. In our case they also required to see the original PCC from the local police since her passport was older than 3 months.

EDIT: the checklist was false in the sense that it didn't mention that the PCC was missing. We got it b/c we had not yet sent in the DS230 form.

Dont get you. I mean my wife has to go to Ahmedabad office as well. I still haven't gotten our NOA1 approved but I have asked her to send me all the necessary documents ahead of time. So for the PCC, what you are saying is wait till NVC sends you something to send list?

Yes, wait till you get a checklist letter from NVC... or you can try your luck and have your wife try to get the PCC...

My wife is from Ahmedabad, so it was easy for her to visit the office. She visited multiple times, each time taking NOA1, NOA2, Packet 3 letter, but they simply wouldn't budge. Finally, when she took the checklist letter we got, they accepted and gave her the PCC. This situation is consistent with other VJer's experience at the Ahmedabad Passport office.

I hope I get a July interview date. I had 1 RFE and now they need more information on my husbands past visas. We sent the latests checklist in on May 21st. We are really down to the wire since they schedule interviews the 2nd week of each month.

Hello everyone! Glad to be on the July 2010 interview forum! By chance I called up NVC today and received my husband's appointment date for July 16, 2010 at 7:30 am in Mumbai. Just before, I received the official email from NVC regarding the appointment date. The AVR hasn't updated as of yet, still says that case was completed on May 18. Woohoo!!! NVC is kicking #### on all these appointment dates for India. Hope that everyone will receive good news this week as the month comes to an end.
