I know it really sucks Ally. It seems that they wouldn't be that busy just by the sampling on here but maybe they are. Like Meant2Be said, have you called the Embassy to see how busy they are?

Last year when we applied for the K1, we could never get a human at the embassy, always just a recording. It was ridiculous! And he never got his packet in the mail. We sent them so many emails about it. They said they mailed it to him 2 times and he never got it. They finally emailed everything he needed. I don't trust them much at all.

Good luck, tokyo.lovers! The interview is coming up! You should have no problems...

And remember I asked you about the cost of the medical exam in Japan? Well, in Romania, it was about 150 and included one vaccine. The vaccine cost just as much as the actual exam! It would have been less than 100 dollars without it.

Hi everyone, hope i can join this forum as we got our interview scheduled on July 20th in Casablanca. Yeah!! Finally.

Anyways, my question is that i moved and now i need to update my address but i have to do it with the embassy, do i just email them and they update it for me? It wont ruin all my husband paper work already done? Also, they said you should bring all your documents to the interview but on the interview letter the codes show we dont need to bring anything as we already submitted it already. Of course my husband is bringing all the copies of all the documents, but they dont have to be certified copies do they? Since they already have those. And does he need to go and get another set of Police certificates after we already gave them to them as this is on the list on the immigrantvisa.state.gov site. Im confused. The interview letter says everything has been submitted but the interview preparation site says you should bring it. Does my husband need to go and get more Police certificates?

Thanks in advance for all your help, sweetcitywife

Of course you can join! Welcome.

Regarding your questions, I can only respond from my experience. If the NVC has received all your civil documents (as reflected in the instructions letter), then copies of these documents should suffice. Non-certified copies. I double-checked this with an NVC operator. Now, they're not the most reliable place to get your information from, but I think they are right about this.

Can you please post the link on the immigrantvisas website where it says that PCC are required at the interview? I think I missed that.

For my mom's case, I emailed the embassy in Romania about the PCCs, and we were told that they are valid for one year; so, as it was issued in April of 2010, it will be valid until next April. Interestingly, the PCC is only valid for 30 days in Romania, but the embassy uses a different expiration date. Once your documents have been delivered to your embassy, you could email or call them to inquire about the status of your documents. I don't know how busy your embassy is, but this may help alleviate a lot of concerns. Good luck.

Thank you gina_raluca, i really appreciate your help. Here is the link you wanted:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3741.html

Notice on the last sentance it says: "The following documents must be available for the interview": And then it lists all the required documents including the police certificate. So it sounds like you should have it available, but i think we are just going to bring copies since they already have it. What do you think? Hope this helps.

Thanks again, sweetcitywife

Oh, yeah, so my understanding is that the link above lists the same civil documents that we had to submit to the NVC. There are a small number of cases where an incomplete packet is forwarded to their respective embassy. In that case, the applicant would need to bring the rest of the documents to the interview. But, I think that since you already submitted the PCC, you should be fine.

My fiancee has her interview scheduled for July 15 in Kiev. I learned that the fee has gone up to $350.00 to be paid at the embassy. Also no translations for documents if they are in Ukrainian or Russian.

I will be there with Valentina, I can't wait.

Good luck to everyone!

Gina, i know for sure that the police certificates ( cazier judiciar) are valid for 6 months from the date of issuance. It even says that on it.

I think if you change the address there was a certain place to state that on one of the forms. or maybe you submit a certain sort of address form? as long as the embassy knows the day of the interview i think it will be fine.

i sent my man photocopies of all the forms and documents. but i also had him get extra official marriage and birth forms. he also has my birth form too, just in case. the embassy should have it all, but bring them to the interview to be safe. as for PCC. it may vary from country to country. japan gives you a sealed doc that NO ONE can open except the embassy. and we only got one. i don't think you can even get another. that should have been forwarded by the NVC to the embassy. if they don't have it then i have no idea what happens. :o but check with your embassy to see what you should do!! B-)

Ok, so i am getting ready for my interview. The letter from NVC states that they have received all the documents from me and my husband (he is the US citizen), everything i sent them is checked in that letter as received, they have originals and absolutely everything they needed ( lucky us we had no RFES's) . like i said above, i sent my man photocopies of all the docs. nothing with new signatures. hope they don't ask for anything like that!!!

you could get away with an email IF the quality was really high and it looked like a photocopy i am sure. or he can send you photocopies. sending it by mail is not so bad. but you also have to consider security when sending personal information by email.
