I will never understand why they didn't give us single payer when they had the chance. That chance is now gone for years and we are stuck with this terrible health care bill. I am in favor of repeal. It will make things worse than they already are. Curse the dems for 100 years for blowing this one.

63% Favor Repeal of National Health Care Plan

Monday, May 24, 2010

Support for repeal of the new national health care plan has jumped to its highest level ever. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 63% of U.S. voters now favor repeal of the plan passed by congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Obama in March.

Prior to today, weekly polling had shown support for repeal ranging from 54% to 58%.

Currently, just 32% oppose repeal.

The new findings include 46% who Strongly Favor repeal of the health care bill and 25% who Strongly Oppose it.

While opposition to the bill has remained as consistent since its passage as it was beforehand, this marks the first time that support for repeal has climbed into the 60s. It will be interesting to see whether this marks a brief bounce or indicates a trend of growing opposition.

Thirty-three percent (33%) of voters now believe the health care plan will be good for the country, down six points from a week ago and the lowest level of confidence in the plan to date. Fifty-five percent (55%) say it will be bad for the nation. Only three percent (3%) think it will have no impact.

The Political Class continues to be a strong supporter of the plan, however. While 67% of Mainstream voters believe the plan will be bad for America, 77% of the Political Class disagree and think it be good for the country.

Repubs didn't want a single payer system, now you are asking why they didn't they pass it.

What do you classify as single payer system? Single payer systems abroad include government owned and operated hospitals and medical centers.

American health care is too broken and too convulated to be fixed. EVER.

Take out the profit incentive from third parties and the problem is mitigated.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yeah I know the repubs didn't want single payer. That is why I voted dem this last time. My question is why didn't the dems pass single payer. They didn't need a single rep vote. They could have done it all by themselves.

Many of them did fight for single payer, but the President wanted a bipartisan effort to come up with ideas and solutions that everyone could live with. If you look at the health care bill that was past, it has many provisions in it that were originally Republican ideas before.

When you try to please everyone you usually please no one. I didn't want a spliced together patchwork, I wanted a final solution to the health care problem. Either do it right or don't do it at all.

In this case, I agree. Obama, in an effort to be bipartisan, squandered a lot of the support he had that got him into the White House. I'm sure his Administration realizes that now.

I like Obama for the most part but I was disappointed in his leadership during this time - he couldn't keep his camp under control at all.

Recall when Bush was justifying going to war in Iraq, all of the important people in his team were disciplined working for the cause. Any time they were being interviewed the message was always the same, it was clear and concise.

The Dems on health care were all over the place. You couldn't get a straight answer out of any of them, mostly because they had not really sat down and discussed how it was going to work. If they were not sure how they were going to make it work how were we supposed to know?

I couldn't help but feel in this situation Clinton would have handled it better, she would have known what she was up against and she would have kept her party in line. Democrats who were already dissenting because they had been bought off by various interests would have at least thought twice. I just can't see that if she had been president right now that the whole "death panels" thing would have stuck.

Had I been able to vote in the primaries though I would have still voted for Obama. Next time, not so sure.
