So I have been reading that it would be better to have your shots before coming to the USA.(and cheaper) OK. Does anyone know which to get for the K-1 visa for a 30 year old woman who cant find her old shot record? I was thinking I=it sounds like good advice to have them now to avoid the civil surgeon thing, in the US. I will need to wire money to cover this ,so can anyone recommend the shot and test list? this is from the Hong Kong consulate Pdf

This is the USCIS document that list what immunizations immigrants are required to have. I still think you will have to visit a USCIS doctor here who will verify and sign your I-693 form (vaccination section) to be submitted with AOS.

When yer getting it all done (immunizations) - ask to be transposed to 'International Shot Record', as well - usually is small extra charge for the form (20 - 40 HKD) but it does not go inside the medical file - it's hers to keep - and useful to show at a US Civil Surgeon in the USA (who will use it to transpose into the medical forms he needs to fill out in the USA).

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

If her medical exam in Hong Kong is anything like her K-1 exam would be at St. Lukes Medical Extension Clinic (SLMEC) in Manila, then it's better for her to get vaccinated in Hong Kong.

> At SLMEC, the vaccinations are included in the price of the medical exam, which costs $213 and change. I noticed that Hong Kong charges separately for the vaccinations. In any case, I'm fairly sure that the vaccinations would be cheaper to get in Hong Kong than they would in the U.S.

> There is also the issue of whether or not the Hong Kong Consulate would allow her to pass the medical without the vaccinations. The U.S. Embassy in Manila requires the vaccinations.

> Not all of the vaccinations are required in Manila. For example, if the woman is over 26 years old, the HPV vaccine is not required. It's probably the same in Hong Kong.

> Having the vaccinations completed in Hong Kong makes it easier for a K-1 when it comes time to adjust status (AOS). When you AOS, you simply find a Civil Surgeon in your city who knows the drill. The Civil Surgeon will spend only about 15 minutes transcribing the Hong Kong vaccination information, and you will only be out about $20-$40.
