This might be a silly question. But I don't want it to be an issue at the interview (with security)

Right now I have an accordian type folder that zips to bring to my fiance in July. It is so full right now that it is hard to close. http://www.staples.com/Globe-Weis-Fabric-Poly-Expanding-Files-Letter-Black-Each/product_566849?cmArea=SEARCH

I know we still have at least 6 months before the interview to add (skype records, phone records, snail mail, facebook messages, more things for the I-134 form, letters from fellow exchange students, medical things, police clearence, photos, visa stamps, boarding passes and so on....)

Can he bring into the embassy a larger folder that is more like this:

http://www.staples.com/Staples-Poly-Expanding-Desktop-File-Black-Each/product_781633?cmArea=SEARCH

or http://www.staples.com/Staples-Accordion-Letha-Tone-Expanding-Files-Letter-Blank-Index-Each/product_383449?cmArea=SEARCH

I just know they are picky about what you can bring into the embassy- has anyone anywhere used one like the second or third style. I would prefer not to have two indivisual accordian folders (like the first one) so everything is in one spot for him.

Thanks for any help you can bring me.....

its not about how big her carrying package is, its about keeping everything well organized and having it in sections small enough to submit through the slot at the bottom of the window... it is much like a movie theatre slot.. curving under the window... so rigid items will be an issue as will items that are too thick...

It all depends on what the consulate will let you bring in, and this will vary from one consulate to another. Most have an x-ray machine in the security room you must pass through to enter the consulate compound. If the package(s) you're bringing will pass through the x-ray machine, then you'll probably be able to bring them in.

When Bernie and I were waiting outside the consulate in HCMC, we met up with another American waiting for his wife to have her interview. They'd already been denied a K1 visa, so were trying again with a CR1. She has a small collapsible shopping basket with two wheels and a handle, filled to the top with documents. I'd guess the basket part was about 18 inches cubed. They let her bring the whole thing inside, but I'd guess it all had to go through the x-ray machine.

IMO, have the documents organized is the clue. I think you can have 'sections' this way when the CO ask for some document you can find it quickly

sections like: financial documents, copy of documents submited with your I-129F, evidence, photos, etc

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

I have a lot of different types of evidence-like everyone else (phone (100+ pages), skype, email, letters from fellow USC exchange students, photos, boarding passes, visas, and passport stamps from other trips, snail mail) so the quality and quanity go hand and hand.... Ghana has been tough lately so I am including everything that I can so we don't have to have a second interview! I also have a co-sponsor so two sets of transcripts, w-2s, and forms adds up!

The organization is alset I was just wondering if the embassys have a limit on the way that things can be carried and such.

I have to get a bigger folder for what I have already which doesn't include that much and I want to leave room so Israel can put all the new things he collects over the next few months- I just want to make sure that it will be okay and from what JimVaPhuong said as long as its under 18" cubed from what they saw it should be okay. I wasn't looking for that big. So I should be okay.

THANKS!

Yes - if I remember right that was Herman, his wife literally brought what was the size of a small roll-on suitcase.

Murphy's Law also applies!

I figured that seems to be what happens.

So I will just give him a ton of stuff and they will ask for nothing or something that we dont have..... lets hope for the first!

Still trying to get them to give me an interview date..... I don't care when it is- just want to know....

I understand, hang in there and don't beat your head against the wall (it's ok to beat it against a pillow).

It's funny sometimes, we took alot, not tons but alot and the CO asked for baording passes from my September visit and pictures. I could not believe it. They did ask her about 20-30 questions, some of which were the same but worded differently. When she caught them the CO just smiled. The other thing she caught the CO at was asking when did she meet her husband to which she answered "he is my fiance not my husband (another smile from the CO).

I will clarify though that we set ourselves up for that line of questioning because we had a traditional Vietnamese Wedding Ceremony and I included photos in our proof of relationship with my original petition. I also included a letter explaining it all.

Maybe we were lucky, maybe we were well prepared. Its hard to say, I've seen people with more get denied and people with less get approved. There really seems to be no rhyme or reason to what these CO's do, sometimes I swear it depends on their mood!

I have a second visit coming up with my parents. I studied/lived there for 5 months but those boarding passes have been long thrown away because I never thought when I arrived that things would have happened! I do have the Passport stamps, transcript of schooling, pictures. But on this second trip I will make sure that I have boarding passes (for all of us), photos especially at landmarks, passport copies, and anything else we can get. You just never know. I have been practicing the changing of questions on the phone. I will make sure if to tell him if they call me his wife to say fiance! We will be having a traditional engagement ceramony- so we might face the same type of questions even though its not a traditional wedding it still could look like it!

Thanks for your help!
