I have made some nice friends on vj, both during our unsuccessful K1 process, and now while going through the cr1. It is helpful to have others in a similar situation to connect with. Suggest to your wife to join visa journey and at minimum begin following the process through the journey of others. She will still miss you and feel lonely without you. But, if she is as fortunate as I have been, she will find some comfort in the nice people she might meet on vj.

There doesn't seem to be any good news on getting interviews in Ghana. As you have already experienced, it is taking over 6 months before people even get a notice about an interview, then the actual interview seems to be at least 6 month after the date you are notified. A number of people have begun a writing campaign to their local government representatives. Another suggestion for your wife - write a non-emotion filled (just the facts) letter to her senator, congressman, and the DOS expressing concerns about the delay in visa interviews in Ghana in comparison to other countries. I plan to write a letter as well when I get to the point where you are.

My husband and I are constantly looking for ways to use this long journey to prepare for his arrival in the states. I have sent him books to assist him in the development of his writing skills. He has a netbook with Microsoft Office software on it - so he is learning how to use the software under my guidance. We are hoping that he will have an opportunity to attend a computer tech school in Ghana before he gets here - if we can get the money together. I am also working on some things for me. I am pursuing several dreams I have that involved community service.

We have accepted the fact that God has given us this time apart for a reason, so, we are doing everything we can to live on purpose during our separation - even though I do have my crying moments as well. We spend a lot of time chatting about life - getting to know each other further. Talking about our differences - even arguing through some of them - but, we have established a healthy way to successfully get through our "arguments".

Bottom line - find purpose and consider the time as a gift - but, write letters at the same time - that might be a part of the purpose.

Also, please fill in your time-line. Your experience helps others.

Staying strong and patient in love and faith!
