Signature for G-325A and Letter of Intent

Hey VJ,

I'm currently assembling all the documents to submit the I-129F petition. I filled out the G-325A and Letter of Intent for my fiancé and emailed them to him. He printed and signed a few copies of the G-325A, along with the Letter of Intent.

I received the documents in the mail today, but my dear fiancé didn't exactly sign his name on the form or the letter, or at least, it doesn't look like a standard signature. He wrote the letter "A" (his name is Ahmad), and then concluded with a sort of artistic scribble that is (?) supposed to be his last name/rest of name/I have no clue.

I know some people have signatures like chicken scratch, and he said it's his normal signature on things in the UAE, but I still think weird. I've attached a photo of the signature for you to evaluate.

My question is, if I were to submit the G-325A and Letter of Intent signed as is, would they issue a RFE for a proper signature with the name clearly written? Is it safer/better to have him redo the forms, or will USCIS only care that it is signed in the first place? (I realize he could delay signing the G-325A until the interview if I requested that in the petition, but I must have the LoI signed in order to submit the petition... So if he needs to redo it, he may as well redo and resend everything.)

All advice greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!!

I think that is perfectly acceptable. It is not up to the USCIS to decide if it is a signature representative of his name, they will look to see if it is a signature. It looks like a signature. My signature doesn't spell out the individual letters of my name.

My fiancee had no signature in Roman Characters. Her alphabet doesn't really have the concept of signing documents. So I taught her and then had her practice. Now she has a signature of perhaps a second grader. This was accepted.

You will not receive an RFE for this unless the Adjudicator is in a really bad mood and we all know that never has happened.

Countries have different concept for signature.

For instance, in France, most people have "artistic" signature because the purpose of signatures is to be unique and not easily forgeable.

Actually, I was surprised to see people just write their names in the US because it seems only a graphologist could determine if it's really you who signed a document or not.

So I gave my fiancée G-325A with both kind of signatures (my usual artistic one and just my name handwritten) and she picked the handwritten style because she felt reassured by it.

I think you are fine with the other kind of signature too, I filed a student visa for the US in 2006 and I signed the documents with my artistic signature and had no problem.

Good luck on your journey
