Hi all,

Sorry if this question is a repeat, but I couldn't find what I was looking for with a search of the forums.

We are putting our AOS paperwork together. My wife's birth certificate is in Portuguese, but has a key on the back for international translation. For example. box 1 translates to Father's Last name, box 2 Mother's last name, etc...

Is this acceptable or do we still need to have it translated?

Also, an even worse question but I've been working on this for too long and I think my brain might be melting...Should the total sent be $1010 or $1010 + $70 for the I-864?

Thanks.

I have the same type of birth certificate and when I was applying for my K1 visa I asked US consulate person if it needs to be translated, even though it has keys on the back and translations into english, and she said that yes, it needs to be translated. So I had it translated back in Canada and I sent that translation for my AOS. I have also heard people on this forum not send in translation and they got RFEs. If I was in your place, I would get it translated

We have that same type of birth certificate and never did a translation neither for the original petition nor for the AOS. Thanks God, everything went fine.
