My I-129F was approved on April 21 which was a month ago, my fiancee hasn't received package 3 yet. She joins a Viet forum where people discuss about K1 visa and so on, she told me that most of members there have got package 3 after the petition was approved 2-3 weeks, max is 4 weeks. There are some people that got no package 3, they went to The Info Booth to pick up Package 3 in person. I've gone to the usconsulate website to get some more information, somewhere it says like it takes about 2 months for the consulate to send the instruction package to beneficiary after they receive the petition from NVC. I also emailed and spoke to someone at the consulate, same answer... 8-12 weeks to get the instruction (Package 3)

I wonder why it takes that long and should I have my fiancee go to the Info Booth to get package 3 ? Any one of you had to wait that long for Package 3 in HCMC, Vietnam ?

Have you received the letter from the NVC with your HCM Case Number? You can't always go from the NAO2 date since the approved petition makes a pit stop at the NVC.

Our time frame is below.

Doan received her packet 3 about a month after NOA2.

NOA2 dated 9/16/2009

NVC sent to consulate on 9/22/2009

Packet 3 received by Doan in Nha Trang on 10/19/2009

6/15/2009 Filed I-129F

12/15/2009 Interview (HCMC, VN)

1/16/2010 POE Detroit

3/31/2010 MARRIED !!!

11/20/2010 Filed I-485

12/23/2010 Biometrics (Buffalo, NY)

12/31/2010 I-485 Transfered to CSC

2/4/2011 Green Card received

1/7/2013 Mailed I-751 package

1/14/2013 I-751 NOA (VSC)

2/07/2013 Biometrics (Buffalo, NY)

Joseph,

Your case is fairly new compared to mine. NVC told me our file was sent to HCM Consulate on 3/29. My fiancee has not received her package 3 yet. On 5/14 I emailed to HCM consulate asking them whether they have received our file. They replied on 5/18 stating that package 3 has been sent out but did not give me the date!!! Hopefully it will come soon.

Hi Bernie C,

How are things with you guys ? Actually I have not received the letter from NVC yet, I called a week after my NOA2 and they said the file has already sent to HCM consulate and gave me HCM case number, the consulate confirmed that they received the file, no specific date though. It's been a month since my NOA2, no package 3 yet.

Hi there, thanks for the info. I've looked at your timeline, it's about 2 months since your NOA2 and no package 3 yet ? Wow, that's insane. Two months for the consulate to send out package 3 ? I can't believe it. Already heard about HCM consulate, it is tough and slow. Where does your fiancee live ? Do you think of having her go pick up package 3 in person instead of waiting it comes on the mail ? I hope you guys get it some time next week.

here is pkt 3

have her fill out the DS 2001 and the DS 230... she can fax, email, mail or hand deliver them.... and interview will be scheduled after she submits these items... note the visa fee will go up very soon so expect to pay alot more than what they have noted in the pkt 3...

Hey - do I see an update with Packet 3 received

After Doan sent the DS-230 Part 1 and DS-2001 it was about another 3-4 weeks before she received Packet 4 and the interview date was about a month after that.

Hope things are going well and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just want to input on my case.

My fiance received packet 3 (instructional package) roughly 2 after it left NVC. However, it just a letter w/ our case number and a link to download packet 3, nothing attached, no form, no documents. And the link provided was incorrect as well.. (figured HCM consulate).. So we're able to figure out thanks to VJ.. downloaded, sent pack DS 230 and DS-2001. It's been 50 days now and we still haven't receive our packet 4 (appointment letter) yet.. Of course, as anxious and impatient, I've wrote to HCM consulate requesting status. Reply said they're still work in progress.. so back to more waiting.

HCM consulate, you're the best (sarcastically) :hehe:

But Good Luck .
