You better checkout the Manila embassy website before you accept "no" as an answer.

Not a US Embassy Manila issue. It is a decree of the Department of State.

U.S. Embassies and Consulates Requiring the Form DS-160

The U.S. Embassy and Consulates listed below require nonimmigrant visa applicants (excluding K-1/2 fiancee and E-1/2 Treaty Trader visa classes) to use the new Online DS-160. Review this important guidance:

hmm I do see that now but I still would feel safer by filling it out before the interview. I guess Len86 can do what he or she wants but I still would adhere to the embassy's beck-and-call even though I see it plastered on this http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_4230.html webpage.

No. DS-160 not required for K-1 Visa.

Whatever...I know what I would do...you do what you will do and leave at that. All I am out is a few minutes if it is not required...no big deal. If so, in the end you can say "I told you so" and I will still feel fine with my decision.

it was written in my appointment letter that i need to bring the bar coded confirmation number of the nonimmigrant electronic visa application form DS-160.. im confused..

Interesting...well I guess you have your answer. Manila might be totally wrong in requiring K1's to fill it out but they are the ones you have to answer to at this point. So be it.
