Yes, if you can get an original or certified copy of her birth certificate you will be better off. Here in the US they won't take a house book for any proof of birth. You should be able to get one through the Amphur's office where she was born without a problem.

On another note, I took Teaw to get her learners permit so she can learn to drive. She took a long time studying the materials which, of course, don't come in Thai and they give test in almost any language but.....what else?? Thai!!! Cause they said they don't have the money to translate it. Bull hockey!!!! That's down right discrimination!!! They guy asks, English, Chinese, Vietnamese.....and I cut him off and said she's Thai but you guys won't spend the money to do it. So she did it in English...25 questions and I thought she'd NEVER finish!!! LOL!! She did take her time but passed so now I will be looking at driving schools to teach her how to drive.

Aaron, if you are checking the forum, how's things in Chiang Mai???

Nice to hear she passed. I've been wondering how hard the drivers license process will be for my fiance when she gets here to Nebraska. We want her to get driving as soon as she can, but getting the SS card and making the marriage arrangements are still first priority. If I may ask, what was your overall experience after arrival like?

Nowhere near as hard as the winter, I'll wager. :)

Thanks for the info...I am taking Nan next week to a CA DMV to take her learner's permit too. She has been studying but she is not that confident. Well, worse case scenario, we have to go back again in a couple of weeks.

I am curious for the K-1 folks that already have thier fiancee's/wives over in the USA. Do they like it better here than the Kingdom? I suppose it will make a HUGE difference where once lives and how, but anyhow interesting. We are at the interview stage in BKK, so will be posting an update shortly but frankly living between both countries now and love the Kingdom.

While illegals invade the USA and get free benefits, we wait paying fees and filling out forms while the illegals fill out zero-thank you US politicians!

Waiting on interview now in BKK, started Jan 2011

My wife is not sure whether she likes living in Thailand better than here. She's on the fence. I, however, have spent enough time in Thailand to know that I definitely prefer living here instead.

Living in Wisconsin must suck. In general they want their food and language etc.

Spent a few days in Milwaukee. I'm from Detroit. Seemed like a suburb of Chicago.

I'm from Chicago, and yes, Wisconsin is pretty much a suburb of Chicago. People here don't like to hear that, but it's true. We live in a rural area of Wisconsin, which we both prefer to the city after spending most of our lives in the city. Plus, the cost of living here is much lower than Chicago.

My wife has had no problem meeting other Thai people and finding all of the Thai ingredients she desires. There are plenty of Thai people in Madison, Milwaukee, and other, smaller cities. There are even 3 other Thai people in our tiny town of 2700 people.

i went through the north side of Wisconsin when I was about 10 years old on a camping trip. The people were really nice up there.

I lived there (not far from Madison) for about two years on a job I had. I wasn't a fan. To say the least, after living in 9 states, I'd probably put it last, or second to last.

The only thing I miss is the grocery stores. They had a fantastic selection of food--especially cheese, of course--but just about everything else, too.

Who lives in WI anyway?
