Hang in there, Tom.

Mike, are you serious?! I certainly wouldn't (and didn't) make any donations for a PCC. It's a public service. Ours didn't take 2 weeks, either. I have heard stories of the PCC getting lost in the mail. Does she have friends or relatives in Bangkok? She can sign a power of attorney allowing them to pick up the PCC for her. They may need a copy of her ID/passport, too. I'm not certain. The friend could then take it to her or she could meet her friend halfway. Where does she live? Husby goes into Bangkok frequently to argue cases and heads out to some of the provinces to meet clients or hang out with friends sometimes. I can ask him if he knows any way to help.

My wife was living in chiang mai. She gave a lawyer there 5k baht and he took care of it somehow.

Whoa, we are dropping too far back in the heap here. Time to move us up to the front again. Hope you all have a good Memorial Day weekend!! I am killing myself in my backyard...haha!!

Hoping for more thunderstorms tonight too. Had some great rain last night. Be interesting to see how the embassy handles things after all their paid time off!!! And yet another 4 day

weekend for them. I think they should do some OT myself!!

Yeah they DEFINITLY need to put in some overtime!!!! Makes me wonder if they will be as meticulous in their reviews of cases and interviews or will they just try to get through them to free up all the backed up cases? Still waiting for our interview date.... Well in my luck they will probably just work at their same current speed :( Oh well life goes on, have a good memorial day everyone!!!

I have a question about the Police Report. It seems that many people, maybe even most people here, pay the Police "extra" so they can get their police report the same day. My fiance' thinks she should wait the two weeks for them to mail the report (she hasn't gone to Bangkok to get Medical/Police Report yet). I don't trust the Police or Postal Service so would rather she get it the same day. How much "extra" can/should she pay for this extra service?

Thanks!

Mike

We didn't pay anything extra for police report & got it the same day (last October).

With the recent events that is certain to change, but others who have done it recently should come forward.

Best of luck!

Great News today. After staring at the US Embassy Website waiting for the June schedule to come out all day I finally finished work at 5pm. When I got to my car, I see a missed call from Ying and a text message. She text me and said she had good news. Her interview date is 22 June 2010! She said she received a phone call from the Embassy. They asked if she completed her medical exam and she said yes. She said the Embassy Lady was Thai and spoke very polite. She has to go to the Embassy tomorrow to get her fingerprints done. They said if she doesn't go tomorrow then we will have to pay the new $350 Visa Fee. We are so happy right now and I feel like I have my sanity back!!

That's good news Richard. I hope they get busy on the AP cases also. Teaw told me she read in the Thai visa site that many of the ladies were getting calls about the new $350 fee!!! Man, you would think they would increase it

slowly and not so much at one time but I'd do whatever it took to avoid paying that much. At least ours was paid in April. Good luck on the interview!!

Tom,

Thank you for the words of encouragement. We are both excited. After June 4th the fee will be $350 for the K1. I wish you luck and I hope that they get done with your case. When was the last time you contacted the Embassy to 'remind' them?

@Richard - Congratulations.

I am surprised that you were able to get a June 22 interview date. That seems sooner than I was expecting after all the closures at the Embassy. I think it is difficult to say how long out an interview appointment will be from sending in Packet 3 because of the red shirt disruption and even two days off around Memorial Day.

It is very decent of them to allow Ying to get her fingerprints done and save the money on the application fee. I know we will need to pay the $350 but at this point, that is not one of my major concerns.

Good luck to you both.

@Tom - Hey Tom, I am thinking two months is what the AP will be, maybe a little longer because of the Embassy closures but if it is two months from the second interview, you and Teaw will here something soon. Let's hope for that.

The last time I emailed them was before they shut down because of the protests. I figured I'd give them a few weeks to get back in the groove before I emailed them again. I don't want

to seem like a pest. A friend of Teaw's who is here in the US but has a Thai bf in Thailand told Teaw she has been emailing them every day about her AP case. I think that's not such a good

idea as they will think you are a big pest!!! But even if I email them I expect I will just get the stock answer from them.

Audy_Rob, she didn't have a second interview but took all the extra proof of relationship they wanted on April 5th. So it's almost two months if you don't throw in all their time off since

then. So I am hoping we hear something at least in July. She hopes every day the embassy will call her and ask her to bring her passport in to get the visa. When she is working day shift she

does not have her phone when she is in the clean room and only has it on her breaks. I told her if she sees a strange number that tried to call her while she was working to call it back when

she is on break and see if it's the embassy!! Can't hurt to check. But that hasn't happened yet, unfortunately. I'd like to get her here before summer is over.

Now wait a minute!!! Don't forget us stuck in AP!!! They need to devote some quality time to us too!!

Yes, sir. You fall under the "those waiting for good news" category. I'm hoping that since they're doubling their caseload (15 cases per day instead of 6 or 7) they'll get to your case faster, too.

I know when we have backups in our office, we get to all of the patients, even the ones we've been purposely hanging on the back door. Not that we would do that, you know. Because we care about all of our patients, even the ones who only call us to say they've gone through 3 months' worth of narcotics in 30 days. We wouldn't have them wait the whole 90 days, no....

Hey Folks-

Thank you to those that have given advice to me in the past, everyone here has been very helpful. I was encouraged by Richard's post about getting an interview scheduled. My fiancee mailed in packet 3 about a week after he did and when I saw his post I quickly called and told her she should go get the medical done as quick as she can. Unfortunately it's a long trip for her from the Isaan area, especially since she prefers to take the bus. I've done it and it's a loooong ride.

The question I had was, in anyone's experience, is it cheaper to get the immunizations done by a local doctor rather than getting them done at the medical exam in Bangkok? I was king of figuring that getting your immunizations done at the medical was like buying a coke and popcorn at the movies. They are going to overcharge you for them because they can, and at that point you don't have any options. I don't know if this is logical reasoning or not?

When I asked her if she had an immunizations record, she said she didn't have one at all. I know you can't put a price on getting those that you care about over to be with you, but when she said that, I couldn't help but start thinking about how we could save a little money. That list of immunizations that are required looks pretty long and pricey! Any inputs would be great. Also, if anyone knows any place in Isaan (Beung Khong Long, Seka, Sakon Nakon) area that they recommend I would appreciate it. Many thanks!
