Our interview was together, it was friendly, cordial and painless but

that may be attributed to the individual officer who had us sit down in

his office, rather than to any rules or guidelines that the officer has.

There is also a "stokes interview" where the couple is separated and

quizzed on the same list of questions, but this is usually used only

when there is some reason to suspect the marriage is not genuine.

They can also cook up a reason, so there is no standard procedure.

The stokes interview is usually prepared by them as a secondary

step where the first interview did not convince them that things were

on the up and up.

You might do a VJ search on the word "stokes" to get specific input

about that from those with experience.

Maybe he shouldn't worry about stokes interviews unless he has to, which is unlikely. There is enough stress in this process already.

This is true, but a reasonable amount of preparation is always a good idea.

He did ask me the birthdate of her adult son and I answered correctly.

It's a good idea that both of you know what you put on the I-485 form

as a start. They asked her the names of my daughters and she knew them.

I'm kind of glad they didn't ask some questions like what color is what room

in the house because even if I've lived there for years, I don't pay attention to

that. That would have been my answer.

The questions will be basic factual ones, not philosophical.

We sent our Packet 3 in on Jan 6 via EMS and are still waiting for interview. From what I have tried there is no way of calling the embassy

to find out the status, only by email so if we don't hear something soon I will try emailing.

Good luck and hope we get good news about interviews soon.

PS I see the Red and Yellow shirts are stating in again so I am hoping I can get the Fiancee out of Thailand before things turn bad.

Hopefully Egg and I will be right behind you as we'll be sending in packet 3 next week.

Thanks for the heads up on the pending demonstrations this weekend (red shirts Sunday, yellow shirts Tuesday). Egg was going to take the bus down to Bangkok to go shopping on Sunday to then pick up her Police report on Monday morning. When I see her tonight on Skype I'll try and talk her into going later in the week, as the Shopping Mall and Police Clearance Center are right in the middle of the demonstration area.

Also, does anyone know if the "Scheduled Appointment list" on the Bangkok Embassy website is broken? (I noticed that the last revision was December 28, 2010)

Thanks for the info, very helpful. It'd be great to hear when you do get the interview scheduled.

Yeah, I read the news about the rally in Ratchaprasong this Sunday, and considered delaying sending until Monday, just in case, but sent anyways in hopes cooler hearts prevail this weekend.

Have you tried looking at the Embassy website for the interview schedule? I wonder if you can figure out how many people are waiting by comparing the BKK case numbers.

They may have been a little backed up with all the holidays at the end of the year and New Year. Give them a little while and I am sure it will get updated. You can always email them and ask if they will let you know when the interview is set. They emailed me and told me when it was done. You would never be able to get through to anyone with any knowledge of what's going on by calling them. They avoid the phone like the plague. You know you can check online with the Thai PO to see if the EMS has been delivered and signed for? That will give you the date it arrived there and then it takes a few days for them to process it and get it into the system with your case.

That was one of the perks having a lawyer, as soon as packet 3 was turned in, they were in the embassy everyday, and asking when we could get an interview, and checking when there were cancellations, or changes. We had an interview within 2 weeks of turning in packet 3.

Conulate is running very late on time lines for interviews from what I can see now. One lady got her packet 4 on 29th Dec. and her interview is set for 22nd Feb. so not sure why there is such a backlog but just adds to the long wait times.

Any other posters that have sent in Packet 3?? Feels like we are back to waiting on NOA 2......LOL

Your current wait time for packet 4 is completely normal. We waited over a month and that was not considered to be a long wait. You'll get it soon enough.

Yep, it sure does. Thought I'll admit I can barely remember what it was like at this point. Some people get a phone call letting them know that an interview will be next week. Others receive notice via email for an interview scheduled weeks ahead. At least, that's the way it worked a little while back.
