@ tom and teaw if they give you the 10 year gc it would be i mistake, there was someone here who got one in error and still had to remove conditions.

as for the interview it's not bad, ours was 30 minutes or so, i think we were called for interview because of late filing. at any rate if teaw is not comfortable with english you will need to provide a translator, because it's definitely english only and you are not allowed to guide/help her. they will want to see evidence of comingled assest, bank accounts utilities, cell phone bills. photos seemed to be a big hit, our i.o. was interested in the photos of me with my in-laws and him with my family in h.k. and here in the u.s.

was about 30 minutes and then she went to have a superivsor look at our file and recommend for approval. in and out in under 90 minutes including wait time.

good luck!

We got a 10 year GC. I made an infopass appointment to find out if she was in the system correctly and the card was given in error. They had her listed as a Permanent Resident, and there is no need to remove conditions. It does happen. There were a few people on here, that has had it happen with no problems also.

The interview was painless, Nam was a little nervous, the guy looked through our photos and asked her who was in them, asked her my phone number, and some other questions. He asked me a few questions to, but it has been a while so I can't remember. On a side note, our paperwork from BKK, hadn't arrived when we had our interview for AOS, so he had to wait and verify some information in the packet from the embassy. A week later we got her GC.

Thanks for the info Lang and Aaron. One other question...were you in the interview together or separate? Teaw can understand if the guy speaks slowly enough but I am thinking of finding someone to translate for her just to be on the safe side.

Our interview was together. I wouldn't worry about a translator, I think Teaw spoke well enough for the interview. Nam asked the guy to repeat a question or two.

After sending my RFE back in I received an E-mail saying they received it on Jan 6th then today (Jan 11th) I got another E-mail saying - your case is in POST DECISION ACTIVITY. Not knowing what that meant I checked my status on the USCIS site and found out it was APPROVED on Jan 10th.

I see all this stuff about police checks, calling to get case numbers etc: should I be doing something or just wait for the packet in the mail ??

Yes, it would hasten the process if you begin assembling the required documents for the Bangkok interview. You can find a current list on the Bangkok embassy's website.

you will be together, unless for some reason they don't buy the relationship and separate you. my husband found some of the terminology difficult to understand. i had to ask the io to rephrase using more simple words and it worked fine. good luck!

@aaron, interesting? i could swear i read somewhere on the site that someone had trouble as a result of that, but good on you! you lucked out.

on a side note we did walk in biometrics in san francisco on friday, easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Got a question for all you that have been through the I-485 interview. I have pictures of us together here in the US from visiting my family, places we have gone, etc. But do I need to take pics of us together in Thailand AGAIN showing me/us with her family, things we did together in Thailand? I sure hope not....although knowing the feds, they'd want a zillion things.

We didn't bring any pictures from us in Thailand. Only brought pictures from when we were here in the US. They did ask her questions about who were the other people in the pictures (had some of my friends take pictures with us).

as Aaron said, photos from Thailand probably not needed.

I have everything prepared for my K1 Visa Packet 3 to send to the Bangkok US Embassy! I'm sending via EMS, so it should get there on Monday.

Anyone at this step recently (last few months) who's gotten their interview scheduled yet? About how long is it taking nowadays? TIA

We sent our Packet 3 in on Jan 6 via EMS and are still waiting for interview. From what I have tried there is no way of calling the embassy

to find out the status, only by email so if we don't hear something soon I will try emailing.

Good luck and hope we get good news about interviews soon.

PS I see the Red and Yellow shirts are stating in again so I am hoping I can get the Fiancee out of Thailand before things turn bad.

Our interview was together, it was friendly, cordial and painless but

that may be attributed to the individual officer who had us sit down in

his office, rather than to any rules or guidelines that the officer has.

There is also a "stokes interview" where the couple is separated and

quizzed on the same list of questions, but this is usually used only

when there is some reason to suspect the marriage is not genuine.

They can also cook up a reason, so there is no standard procedure.

The stokes interview is usually prepared by them as a secondary

step where the first interview did not convince them that things were

on the up and up.

You might do a VJ search on the word "stokes" to get specific input

about that from those with experience.
