congrats on your marriage...arizona mike and to you and gif as well, bless 1010. wish you lifetime of happiness and an easy transition for your wives in a new country.

@arizona mike are you anywhere near chandler? there are quite a few thai people there, some solid restaurants and grocery ingredients as well.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats. I live about 15 minutes from Chandler and have visited Wat Pa there but the closest Asian grocery store I could find is in a strip mall on the border of Mesa and Tempe (Dobson and Main), called Mekong Plaza and is actually Chinese owned but they have some Thai, Korean, and Vietnamese food there. We can get fish sauce there and just about everything she needs but it's about a 30 minute drive. When Mimi and I visit Wat Pa she can ask the people there where the best grocery store is.

However, she gets by fine shopping at the local vegetable/fruit market and Walmart. We've only had to go to Mekong twice since Mimi got here - the first time to check it out and the last time for another bag of rice and a few hard to get Thai vegetables. We haven't eaten at any Thai restuarants yet but I'll probably take her to my favorite Thai restaurant soon. I've teased Mimi that they make better Green Curry Chicken than her so maybe she can ask for their recipe. LOL, I think I saw some steam come from her ears after that comment

trying to get yourself in trouble already? :bonk: i bet you could see the steam coming from her ears i have heard from my mil and sils that you don't wanna mess with a thai lady. i will see if i can connect with my friend in chandler and ask about thai grocery, it's been a couple of years since i was there if i get something i will post it for you. do you have a rice dispenser it will help a ton in storing the rice etc. i have not known many non-asians to have one so i always suggest it.

it must be wonderful to have your wife here now! enjoy a wonderful safe holiday...in fact happy holidays to all!

Congrats to the newly weds!! Teaw was fine and then after awhile started feeling homesick so that may come a little later. But she does call her family and friends quite often. I found a card on ThaiTel, $25 and you can call Thailand as much as you want for 90 days after you activate the card. Teaw has been calling a lot so I expect I will get my money's worth out of it. You can buy more than one and use them as you need them. Seems like a good deal.

We have found two stores in Raleigh, NC that sell mostly Thai foods, which is good. Then we have a couple others that sell a mix of different Asian foods but one in Cary has a fresh meat/fish counter and you can buy live Tapia and they will scale it and clean it for you. So we have had fried fish a couple times already, which I love. One of my favorites when I am in Thailand. Teaw is a great cook so I have had lots of Thai food....but not too spicy. She has to tone my dish down and crank hers up! Now I was shocked to find goat ####### and beef ####### being sold in the meat section!!! That definitely won't be on my dinner menu!!

My daughter picked us up from LAX on the 19th and she was nice enough to drive us down to Thai Town in the rain so Teaw could buy a book and magazine. I never feel uneasy down there...maybe cause I grew up in So. Cal....but I couldn't believe that the books were $25 to $40 each!!! YIKES!!!! She bought one and one magazine and I told her when we go back next year to stock up on books to read!! That's a little much for a couple hundred baht book. There is a Thai bakery around the corner from the market too that has some nice stuff in there.

So life is good for us...right now we are helping my mom here in Ventura County and will fly home on the 29th. Plan to hit Disneyland on Sunday, the 26th, for the day so she can see it and have some fun. Hanging around my mom's house all day is not very exciting for her.

Merry Christmas to all of you!!! Have a good one.

Tom & Teaw

I was hoping to get the NOA2 before Christmas. The case hasn't even been touched since it was received on 9th August.

I'm kinda down about this. I should be able to bring her to the States already. I miss her.

Hi all, I have been posting on the June filers page and just found this page. I filed for a I-129F fiance visa on July 7th 2010 and finally got touched on Dec. 8th. It said "On December 7, 2010, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)." I live in Chiang Mai Thailand so I expected it to take at least a week but I haven't received it yet. Does anyone know if I can call the 1-800-375-5283 number for help, what hours they are open and what time zone it is in so I can figure out what time to call them from Thailand.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to VJ. Calling that number is pretty much a waste of time. You'll have to wait and see what the RFE is about via post. Once the case gets to NVC it gets better.

You might be better off getting married in Thailand and filing DCF there. It will go quicker.

The trouble is waiting for the mail is it might never get here or be too late for me to respond.

I can't file DFC because it is impossible to marry a Myanmar citizen here, I have tried for 2 years in Thailand and in Myanmar.

Teaw got her work authorization card in the mail today...nice New Year present!!! Not that she is going to work, but since it was free with all the other papers, why not? So now she has one official

government ID we can use when she flies.

Anybody who filed through the California service center have to wait the full 5 months or longer?

My fiancee and I are getting rather antsy. We filed August 6th 2010 and have not received anything as of yet. Not even a touch.

This is rather dis-heartening to say the least.

If it goes beyond the 5 month mark, what should I do that will actually kick this into gear? I assume just calling won't really do it. Maybe calling my congressman? Use the fact that I'm a vet? I don't know, I just want to be with my wife. Not too much to ask in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Is your time line correct?? The reason I am asking is you have and Oct. NOA 1 date which would put you out to Feb or March for NOA 2

I see you sent in your Packet in July but have an Oct. NOA 1 Date.
