Wish I had some words of wisdom for you on that one but not quite sure about why they would speak to the embassy there. Also, I am wondering about the religions as well?? That is very odd for them to ask to me but maybe I don't know the entire story. They really zoomed in on my previous marriages and made sure my wife knew and kept asking her whey she would marry someone that has been married before. I thought it was strange but maybe not.

Also, does anyone know why they are taking a week to issue the visa rather than next day like they used to? Is this normal now at BKK??

Adam, not much to tell about religion, no strange story, just christian and buddhist. She was asked if she was going to convert to my church before the wedding, things of that nature. After I've spoken with Five to get more details I'll try to put together a review.

Congratulations!!! Just one quick question, when did they tell her to come back to pick up visa with passport?

Exactly ONE week. Interviewed on Monday. Will go Monday to pick up passport with visa.

I think it is good news Jordi. Maybe the Embassy wants to check and see with other sources in Malaysia (think CIA) to see if they have any info on Five. Just kidding about CIA.

Kinda odd how they're going backwards in the amount of time it takes for them to issue the visa after approval. Maybe these "new" visas have more security features so it takes longer.

Had a friend who said maybe it's a new standard procedure with Malaysia for people who have stayed there longer than just a vacation, where they have to run everyone's name in a database of known terrorists or people that may have ties to terrorism. No idea if that's true or not, didn't really think Malaysia was a hot spot for terrorist groups. I could see it for Indonesia or Pakistan etc.....

In any case it sounded like it wouldn't be a big deal, just a technicality, but anything can happen at this point :(

Well, Teaw and I are finally back in North Carolina after our aborted stay in Thailand due to my father's death, flying back to NC and then the next morning out to Calif for the funeral and to help my mom

get some stuff straightened out. My daughter was a champ and took care of all the funeral stuff for my mom so she didn't have to do it. But flights delayed coming home tonight (Sat) through Chicago so we got

back a little later than we had hoped. Now after meeting my family by what I call baptism by fire she can settle in now and get used to the US.

Sorry to hear about your father and your loss but congrats on getting both of you back home. I can't wait till next Saturday when we are finally back in Texas.

Just talked to the wife. She left embassy today with visa in hand and the all important package to be opened at POE. I guess it didn't sink in till she actually had this in hand. So glad now and thanks to everyone for the information that has been shared in this forum.

What happened? Everyone is so QUIET in this thread now!! All the honeys in the USA so nobody is writing? LOL!! Teaw has discovered the Science Fiction channel (SYFY) and has been watching that all weekend now.

We will do the deed this Friday and then see about applying for her SSI card.
