Good luck to you guys. I wish I could be there as well with my wife but currently sitting on an oil rig in Indonesia with a knot in my stomach worried about it but don't really know why, no complications but still can't help but think.

They wouldn't let you in to the interview anyway. Kind of ironic when they want to prove a relationship.

You would be stuck outside trying to find a Beer Singha.

You know what else I found ironic? When I went to the BKK embassy to get my letter stating that I was free to marry, they let her in with no questions asked and she and I freely walked around inside the embassy to the citizen's service room with no questions. Now, that we are married they won't even let me "CITIZEN" into my own embassy!!!!!!!!!!!! How ironic is that??? Games that the government play.

By the way, I prefer Chang!!

You could get in through the US citizen services section... show up to ask a question about adding passport pages or something.

I don't think it matters much either way, though. I didn't go either. Ann handled everything herself and I didn't see her until she showed up in the US (after stopping in Kuwait on the way over...)

I'm with you on that one. It is probably best she handle it as I am sure with my "BOSS" mentality (as she calls it) would make matters worse. I'm just so close here in Indonesia though and the wait it killing me.

Nope. USC services are not open at the same time they conduct interviews.

The American Citizen Services (ACS) section of the U.S. Embassy is open to the public Monday through Friday
from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., except Thai and American holidays. Note: The American Citizen
Services section is closed to the public on the last Friday of every month. Please bring your passport or other form of
picture identification.

When are they doing interviews these days?

Wow. Used to only be after 13:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays. I didn't try to go for the interview, but I got burned by the old rule once when my old passport was gonna expire.

(I know... I have passport issues alot) Never lose one in Manilla. I got stranded there for 5 days. That embassy sucks.

Edit. Had a kick a$$ weekend in Manilla while waiting.

Yeah, there were girls inside at the interview area as we had to walk right by the counter where they put all the paperwork together before they interview.. I tried to refresh her memory about it so she would feel more comfortable about going inside. I think when she gets inside tomorrow she will calm down and she will remember.

Edit. Had a kick a$$ weekend in Manilla while waiting.

I left Manilla after 5 days. It's totally a party town and there is absolutely NOTHING_ELSE_TO_DO there. And unlike Bangkok, the GOOD clubs never close. Go to the club at 6PM, have dinner there, buy a mini keg of beer for $10, stay until 6-7AM, go to bed, wake up at noon, have lunch and wait around until 6PM. Repeat. After 5 days, I thought it might be best to drag myself away. I didn't want to become one of those freaks that we have all seen hanging around Manila or Bangkok. I'm sure you know what I mean...

And Ann washed my passport the day after we got back from Russia this year. I'm currently waiting for a replacement.

Right on. You know what I mean. I was happy to get back to the sanity of Bangkok. I never thought I would use "sanity" and "Bangkok" in the same sentence until I got stuck in Manilla.

Just everyone knows how f*cked up it is in Manilla. Here's my sad story.

I have a flight on Wednseday night back to Bangkok. No passport so I'm stuck. I go to the embassy. They tell me I need a police report to get a new passport.

Off to the police I go on Thursday. They have a big ledger where they keep this info. I have to pay to get it translated across the street. So I get the police report etc. Then I go to the Embassy. They are closed on Friday afternoon for some weird holiday, so I'm stuck. I go back Monday and get the passport.

Also, I need an exit stamp or I cant leave. The guy I work with has an uncle that works at immigration. I go to that place and someone had set the whole building on fire. I walk through this place with water from the sprinklers still going off. I meet the guy, and he wants 3000 PHP for the stamp. I happily give him that and get my stamp in the new passport. But guess what..??? No more flights back to BKK that night. One more night in Manilla.

My US based company was going nuts. "Where the hell are you?" Telling them I was stuck in Manilla got me nowhere. I tried to tell them the hookers in BKK are cheaper anyway, but of course I got the obligatory call from HR telling me I shouldn't be talking about hookers.

Then I get back to BKK and have to hear endless sh$t from the girl about why I spent almost a week in Manilla.

Moral to the story... DON'T LOSE YOUR PASSPORT!

I might have posted this story before. I can't remember because some farang sent me Saeng Som.

 Sounds like you have worked in the oilfield??

Telecom unfortunately. Not only that, sales. It takes a friggin year before anyone on that continent will sign a PO. Late night, late quarter sales calls back to the US sucked!

Not just that. In Thailand they just LIE to you. I asked this guy once "Why did you agree to buy this and then back out?" He said "I wanted you to feel better" My hard a$$ manager in DC didnt make me feel better. Not sure how you can get raped in the a$$ from 10k miles, but it sure felt like it. The joys of living and working in Thailand.
