LOL, well, I am on Skype right now as I am writing this and she is going crazy looking at papers, picking out clothes to wear, etc..... Good luck to you guys and I"m sure all of us will be fine. It is Saturday night here and she is leaving to go stay in hotel tomorrow so she is freaking out tonight. I'm sure another panic attack will be had tomorrow night as well.

White shirt, black pants. Do the Thai business thing.

I went there once for some marriage paperwork once. I saw girls in high heels and jeans. I had to laugh. I think they're interview was quite short, fair or not.

I saw some teenagers dressed in ripped pants, a graffiti t-shirt, and gym shoes waiting for an interview. They were boxing each other and then decided it would be a good idea to start playing with the American flag. I'm normally pretty laid back (in Thailand) but they were really pissing me off. I imagine the interviewer laughed himself into a coma when they stepped to the front of the line.

Laugh. Fair or not, I bet they got denied. Need to dress like you are are having university photo taken. I used to go there for USC BS cause I lived there. The place was full of girls. I went there last time for my wife's 221g, and the place looked really nice. Thank god the old fat bald guy is gone.

Dress like it's University interview. No jeans, No high heels. They see that and they think Soi Cowboy.

My wife and I use our iPhones. No problems in over 30 countries.

Yea, the iPhones will work on numerous networks, but I'm looking for something less expensive. I already know about a worldwide pay-as-you-go SIM card I can use, now I just need to buy a cheap phone that works on whatever networks are common in Germany & England as well as the U.S. and Thailand. It looks like GSM 900 & 1800 are used in Europe, but the U.S. uses GSM 850 & 1900. Thailand is predominantly GSM 1800, but also seems to have a little GSM 900 and 1900 support. So, it sounds like the best phone will be at least dual band supporting GSM 1800 and 1900.

Before I got the iPhone I just bought a quad band phone on ebay. It cost about $30 and that was 5 years ago.

Just search ebay for "quad band phone". Some list it as a "world phone". I did a quick search and found some used BB 8800s for just over $50, so you should be able to do a lot better than that.

FYI: I just checked the iPhone's connectivity specs. No wonder it always worked:

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850 900 1800 1900 MHz)

Penta-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850 900 1900 2100 MHz)

Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n)

Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR

Yea I remember liking the E90 when I looked & played with it and then tried to block the memory when I saw the price tag. This would be for my MIL to contact us on her journey in case (when) she has problems. So, the cheaper the better. I might just spring for the escort service on Lufthansa.

"escort service" Just what kind of escort service are you talking about ???

...Teaw and I are at a hotel by the airport waiting for our flight in the morning. My father passed away Wed night US time and we had to change our flights to come home early...at considerable expense...thank you airlines

Sorry to hear the bad news Tom. My condolences to you and the entire famly. It will be alot for you and Teaw to deal with. Both of your Ex-wives will be at the services?

It is Sunday night. We had a small, quiet and somber meal. Nerves affecting both of us. Audy is checking her list twice, make that about 17 times. Off to bed early, then up very early. I am going to wait for her somewhere outside the Embassy. I am not sure if it will help, but I will be there.

Good luck all.

Good luck to you guys. I wish I could be there as well with my wife but currently sitting on an oil rig in Indonesia with a knot in my stomach worried about it but don't really know why, no complications but still can't help but think.

It's a service Lufthansa offers at the Munich and Frankfurt airports for passengers that need assistance finding their gates, figuring out how to navigate the airport, etc. I guess that's 50 euro, and another 25 euro for an "escort" that speaks the passenger's native language. Come to think of it, this is kind of expensive. Since we will need something like that at every airport other than BKK for my MIL, maybe I will end up sending her a phone so she can call my wife instead.

I did the same thing in June of '09. I \'m not 100% sure it helped either, but my (now) wife brought my passport in and the officer took notice and asked if I was waiting outside.

The only place to really hang out is at one of the financial buildings across the street. They have a few coffee shops there.

GL!

I have had AT&T for a million years. My phone, although a Thai NOkia, works in Japan thru the Japanese network. I can call Thailand, send text messages, call the US....but it is NOT cheap as you on roaming when you leave the US.

Teaw and I are at a hotel by the airport waiting for our flight in the morning. My father passed away Wed night US time and we had to change our flights to come home early...at considerable expense...thank you airlines!!!!....and then after we get home Sunday night we are off to Calif Monday for the service Tues. Thankfully one of my daughters lives just up the road from her grandparents and was there with my mom and has been a trooper taking care of all the stuff that needed to be done so my mom didn't have to mess with it. Unfortunatly Teaw will not get to meet my father other than seeing him at the family viewing for all the family that did not get to see him recently. But on the bright side she will get to meet two ex-wives at the same time!!! HAHAHAHA!!! Other members of the family have been getting a good laugh out of that so it will be very interesting since she looks about 15 years younger than her real age. I can just hear the whispers now!!! This will be a sad day but fun watching all the other family checking her out.

Whoa, bad news Tom. Sorry to hear that, but at least this leg of your VJ is over. Best of luck.
