No money owed to IRS, I filled out the 864EZ form. We have tons of photos along with bills as well, I work in the oilfield so I have been living there as well for the last year. My 14 yr old son has been to visit and we have tons of photos of that and also me with all of her family. I guess I will tell her to print out some more. She is concerned that she will have to pay more money when she gets there and is getting that info from thaivisa forums. I can't seem to convince her that she does not need again at the Thai post.

No, you already paid the $400 to NVC. She's probably talking to other people in Thailand that went the K visa route. With a K visa you do have to pay money at the interview. Not with CR-1/IR-1.

I went through the same thing with my wife. She was convinced she needed to pay the visa fee. She didn't have to pay 1 THB at the embassy.

Hi AdamW. Yes, udy is nervous and driving me nuts. She also is reading usvisa4thai. She has been looking for another K-1 that will be at the interview on the 13th.

I do not know about CR-1's. Actually, K Visas should not have to pay anything at the Embassy either. The visa application is paid for in advance at the Thai post office. The only exception is when they have a fee increase like they did in June. Then if you already paid the lower fee and interview after the new fee effective date, you did have to pay the difference at the Embassy. Otherwise, the US Embassy Bangkok does not like to collect money for anything.

Good luck all.

CR-1 does not have to pay at the post office. CR-1 does not have to pay anything in Thailand, only the medical.

Anyone have any suggestions regarding rental of a phone that will work in Japan, Thailand, and the U.S. that can be easily returned in the US or Thailand? I looked into OneSimCard, and it looks nice, but it may be expensive to return it from Thailand.

Not sure where to get a rental phone, but I doubt you will find one that works in all 3. Thailand and US is easy. Just get a GSM phone. Japan uses CDMA. They have no GSM there, so might be tough for the Japan part.

If you get a GSM phone in the US, make sure it is unlocked so you can put any providers SIM card in there.

Any phone that supports WCDMA 2 GHz or, I think, 800 mhz CDMA on one of its bands will work in Japan. Thailand is mostly GSM 1800. So, any tri-mode phone that supports those 2, at least, should work, I think. I read something about needing 2100 UMTS in Japan too. The Motorola C975 is one phone and it is offered by OneSimCard.com for rental. I'm just looking for other options as I worry about shipping the phone back from Thailand. Maybe I'll just have to buy one of those phones along with an international SIM.

I have AT&T and just got the Blackberry Bold 9700. Supposedly it works in Japan and Korea. I haven't been there yet, but will be in November.

Check this out for other devices that AT&T says will work in Japan

Pick a device and click continue. Can also go to their international section and build an itinerary, enter phone number, select phone type, and determine if it works in various countries.

I have had AT&T for a million years. My phone, although a Thai NOkia, works in Japan thru the Japanese network. I can call Thailand, send text messages, call the US....but it is NOT cheap as you on roaming when you leave the US.

Teaw and I are at a hotel by the airport waiting for our flight in the morning. My father passed away Wed night US time and we had to change our flights to come home early...at considerable expense...thank you airlines!!!!....and then after we get home Sunday night we are off to Calif Monday for the service Tues. Thankfully one of my daughters lives just up the road from her grandparents and was there with my mom and has been a trooper taking care of all the stuff that needed to be done so my mom didn't have to mess with it. Unfortunatly Teaw will not get to meet my father other than seeing him at the family viewing for all the family that did not get to see him recently. But on the bright side she will get to meet two ex-wives at the same time!!! HAHAHAHA!!! Other members of the family have been getting a good laugh out of that so it will be very interesting since she looks about 15 years younger than her real age. I can just hear the whispers now!!! This will be a sad day but fun watching all the other family checking her out.

LOL, well, I am on Skype right now as I am writing this and she is going crazy looking at papers, picking out clothes to wear, etc..... Good luck to you guys and I"m sure all of us will be fine. It is Saturday night here and she is leaving to go stay in hotel tomorrow so she is freaking out tonight. I'm sure another panic attack will be had tomorrow night as well.

n/m. Looks like I'm now potentially looking for one that works in Thailand, the U.S. and Germany as well as England (assuming Germany and England have different types of networks).

Generally speaking, it seems like there should be no problem obtaining the visa provided you are prepared (have enough evidence, know basic stuff about the other person, etc) and have an uncomplicated past, We both freaked out before our interview, but it was over nothing. Best of luck.

Yea I remember liking the E90 when I looked & played with it and then tried to block the memory when I saw the price tag. This would be for my MIL to contact us on her journey in case (when) she has problems. So, the cheaper the better. I might just spring for the escort service on Lufthansa.
