When I talked to Teaw about getting Thai TV for her when she comes in Sept, she said let's wait because she thought she could learn English better watching regular TV here. I kind of have to agree with her

and I thought that was nice of her to think that way. But I also don't want her bored to death so we'll decide after she has a chance to settle in.

My wife was the same, she didn't want Thai TV, she wanted to watch TV to get better at english. The Closed caption drove me crazy at first, but I am used to it now, and it helps her a lot. After about 3 months she would watch you tube now and then, and finally in December she wanted the Thai TV, she spent a few months watching it, and now rarely watches it. The most important thing was FOOD!!!

I just got her enrolled in English classes at the college and she is doing those 2 days a week.

When I lived in Sweden that is how I learned Swedish. Most of the programming over there was in English so I would have the Swedish text on the screen. I was surprised at how quickley I picked up on Swedish.........

On the flip side, I learned to read Thai quite well because all the street signs there (at least in BKK) are in English and Thai. Thais are pretty amazed at my reading skills. Unfortunately, most of the time I have no idea what it means when someone puts Thai script in front of me. I can just read it and speak it, and usually get it right.

This is definitely the way I feel about it. I want her to learn English first. She can call home as much as she wants and we will set up Skype for her to talk to her mother but the last thing I want is for het to sit around watching Thai TV all day.

There used to be a forum at Delphi Forums called Thai-Falang Board or Forum, something like that. They had good discussions about six years ago about bringing the fiance(e) to the US.

One popular topic was how to install the spray host onto the toilets. Audy has already asked me to install the spray thing onto the toilets in the house. One guy at the Thai-Falang forum listed all the materials needed, the steps to do it and showed photographs of his installation. It looked very good. (I will still be paying soemone else to do it but Audy doesn't need to know that.)

Oh, the lovely spray hose!! I forgot about that and didn't ask Teaw about it..hahaha. I guess I should, but I have told her they are all flush toilets here and no spray hose but that was awhile ago.

The toilet in her room is the squat type and man, while it has some advantages I won't list here, us Americans are just not built to squat with clothes on like they can!!! So we shall see

what happens when she gets here and if I need to adapt my toilets!!!

Rin usually watches American TV, but does watch ThaiTV about an hour a day when I am at work (to catch up on news).

We decided against the the bum gun and instead installed the shower head with separate spray hose in the shower in two of the bathrooms. If you live where the weather is cold and ground water temps in the winter drop to 50 degrees or less, the unheated bum gun would be a bit too "refreshing"!

How about "nekkid niagra?"

"scheisse-vasser," "######-shower," "shitzer-spritzer"

Well, I figure a cold squirt in the morning might actually aid in waking one up from a good sleep, ya know? Kind of like taking a cold shower.

But I have always wondered what the folks do when they have no toilet paper and use the aforementioned appliance to clean their nether regions

and are squatting or sitting there all wet. I mean there is no way I'd want to pull clothes up over a dripping wet ####### and other parts and walk

around until it decides to maybe dry out. And it does not air dry that fast no matter how hot it is!! Maybe I get curious about the wrong things???

How did we get from Thai TV to these things anyway??? :bonk:

From my POE review:

We lined up with everyone else and were directed to a special booth for K1/immigrant visa holders. The officer allowed me to stand with my fiancee while he looked at her documents & visa. They did a fingerprint scan, a photo, and asked her when we were going to get married. He explained to her that the docs in the brown envelope would be sent to the immigration officer nearest our place of residence. The officer was nice and helpful and the whole thing only took about 10 minutes.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

I didn't think it would take too long unless they suspect something. We have about an hour and 45 min. between flights so that should be enough time. I was just looking for a way to get through faster than standing

in line only to be told to go to another line somewhere. But I'll look for one of the people that directs people to which station to go to and see where they tell us to go unless there is something plainly marked. She is

getting more and more excited and her last day at work is Sunday night and then next weekend she will work on moving all her stuff to Buriram and visit family for awhile before I come racing in to whisk her away!!!

Kari, where have you been? You have been awfully quiet lately!!!
